About
Begun in 1876, this scenic square features a monument called "Weaver," which commemorates the 25th anniversary of Rome as a capital of the state, plus other important structures including the Teatro Adriano and Chiesa Valdese, built in a curious mix of Romanesque-German and Byzantine-nouveau.

Elegant and animated Piazza Cavour is Como's main square and a focal point of the city's historic center. It is a place to enjoy views of Lake Como and nature in all its glory !! One can also stand at the landscape and appreciate the beauty of the lake and the houses on the hills and beyond that are characteristic of this place.

Piazza Cavour is where the Ferry and Rapido come and go. All private boats too. The Train Station is a two minute walk east. The Tourism office is here. This is where Como began. The local group - Amici di Como - have just built a beautiful new park where children can run under fountains of water, concerts and book fairs - lots happens in this piazza. If you miss it - well, you missed Como.
The Piazza is crusted by local restaurants, cafe's and hotels. Great spot to sit in the sun with your reading and sunscreen.
Watch the sun set or rise on this area as it is the center of Como town. Buses, taxis, Ferrie and a McDonald's. Easy tourist shopping nearby along with the Bergdorf Goodman of Como - Tessabit. Banks and pharmacies.

I'm just writing this because the description of the square is wrong... it's of Rome's Piazza cavour... :-)
So no teatro adriano, no valdese church here...
Piazza Cavour is the square where all the ferries start, one side is waterfront while three sides have modern buildings. the only one of architectural interest is the one at the left looking the lake (an hotel) that have the ground floor designed by famous rationalist architect Giuseppe Terragni. The beauty of the square lies on the enticing view of the lake and the back and forth manoeuvres of ferries.

This square was a great visit today, to see Como, wander around have a gelato!!!!
Great to be in Como just outside tourist season, perfect amount of people, very relaxing.
Still prefer Cernobbio, smaller and more quaint!!!!

In May people were out and active but not the big hordes and crowds were locals shopping and seeking lunch. Near banks to exchange money and ATMs.

Absolutely gorgeous view, but the flooring is a little dirty and uneven. Pay attention if you're out with you children.

Piazza Cavour is a very nice place to stop awhile & have a coffee or drink at one of the restaurants nearby. There are lovely views across the lake, it's spacious & airy & a lovely place to spend some time before making your way to the the ferry terminal to see one of the other beautiful towns along the shores of beautiful Lake Como.

This beautiful piazza is in front of the lake, near the ferry pier and the train station como Lago. You can start visiting the city from here once off the nearby station of Como Lago or take the ferry to tour the lake.

It is a beautiful square between the historic center of Como and the lake. There are beautiful buildings around and one side is open. It is the lakeside. As it was November, they were already preparing the Christmas Market there.

Hello,
We are flying into Milan and have a rental car. Is there a place that is safe to park for a day while we take a ferry on the lake.
thank you,David

Hello
Would there be car parking near the ferry that is safe for a day trip up and back on the lake
Thank you

Hello,
There are several parkings near Piazza Cavour in Como, but not on the square itself. The easiest way to find them is to try on Google maps: enter the square name, then search for "parking" nearby.
I hope this helps.

Hi, Shermaine,
We will be staying Argegno in June. If we arrive in Como by ferry, can you tell me if the funicular is hard to get to? Would we have to take a train or taxi or would we be able to walk? We will have a car, but I think finding parking would be difficult.
Thanks!
Irene
