We were so glad to discover Bike It Bellagio! and experience the phenomenal cycling network in the Lake Como region. We rented two Bianchi road bikes from the shop which is conveniently located just outside of the center of Bellagio (and walking distance from town) on the route to the famed Madonna di Ghisallo, and everything was ready for us when we arrived at the shop. We just brought our road pedals from home, they installed them quickly, and off we went on our first of many adventures. Luca and Casey, the delightful Italian-American couple who founded the shop , are expert road, gravel and mountain cyclists; Casey’s a triathlete too, and they know hundreds of scenic, challenging or mellow routes in the Lake Como region. If you’re independent and adventurous, they’re happy to share GPX files for you to navigate. They also offer guided rides and supported trips too which sound very tempting. One of our favorite routes they recommended began with a short ferry ride from Bellagio to Caddenabia where we tackled a few challenging climbs en route to Lugano in Switzerland, then hugged the north shore of Lake Lugano to return to the ferry and back to Bellagio. We did the Ghisallo climb twice and took the easier main road Colma da Sormano to avoid the super tough Muro di Sormano. If you’re a cycling couple with mismatched abilities, Bike It Bellagio! also rents ebikes and this is a great way to experience the beauty of the area without stressing about the hills. The shop specializes in Bianchis and has a very nice selection of Italian cycling apparel and components too. It’s very easy to find apartments to rent in Bellagio and it’s a perfect spot for a cycling vacation. Next time we’d stay a month or more instead of just a week because there are so many roads we did not get to ride and there are so many villages and places to explore all over the Lake Como region. We look forward to our next trip and getting more great ride recommendations from Casey and Luca. Highly recommend!

We hired 4 e-bikes and a GPS and Casey set us up with a 40km route taking in Onno and Ghissallino and many wonderful sights along the way. We were aiming for a restaurant with a wonderful view but we mistimed it as we started late and it closed for a few hours in the afternoon (oops!) It was an absolute stunning ride taking in the lake and countryside and definitely worth it. We’re not avid cyclists but we managed it, would not have been able to do it without e- bikes though! I exchanged a few emails to Casey a couple of days in advance and she was really prompt and helpful in her replies. We had a slight issue with the GPS mid route but she was able to help us overcome it. Would definitely recommend this and we’re so glad we did it. A wonderful bike shop, thank you Casey and Luca.

If you’re looking to escape the tourist traps and Bellagio, this is a great way to spend a couple of hours or a day. We did a private tour in and around the mountains in Bellagio and it was awesome. We asked our tour guide to go easy on us, made good use of the boost on our e-bikes and stayed on the road, and trust me, still got plenty of exercise along with the breathtaking views! The owner was accommodating and flexible and the tour turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. If you’re not sure what you can handle, I would suggest to email them with specifics of what you were looking for, and of course, if you can afford a little more for a private tour you’ll get maximum flexibility on the route and level of difficulty. Recommend this company without hesitation!

We’ve rented 5 bikes for days of riding around Como. Casey an Luka have wide selection of sizes and models, suitable even for big groups bikes were excellent. They have helped us to set bikes and position just right. They have been really understanding of all our various needs and requests and gave us great tips. We had really good time riding. Thanks a lot guys, it was a pleasure meeting you, highly recommend the bike hire to everyone!

Many thanks to the great and friendly service even though we did not make a reservation in advance!

We rented from the Varenna location as we stayed on that side of the lake.

We rented two e-mtb's for a beautiful but challenging bike trip from Mennaggio to lake Lugano and back. It is one of the tours on their site: "Pedalata a Porlezza".

For this route you can either do a "there and back" following the bike path (mostly separated from the main roads) or make it a challenging loop with a steep and long hill climb to the village of Naggio after which you descent towards lake Lugano. After stopping at Porlezza by the lake, you can take the easy bike path back.

We did the latter and ended up with about 30km. A little less than the full tour as we started at the ferry in Mennaggio rather than at the start of the track. There is a ferry between Varenna and Mennaggio.

We got two e-mtb's with a powerful Bosch cx performance motor and full battery.
Helmets, locks, a pocket for mounting our phone and even a full water bottle were included!

Using the highest setting (turbo) to get up the mountain and lower settings on the level paths, we still had 3/4 of our batteries left at the end of the trip. We are normal size adults without a lot of biking experience.

Really happy with the e bikes on the steep climb. Really hard without using it or on the lower settings. Don't be afraid to run out of battery. We were frugal but it was not necessary.

Thank you so much Jeroen! Our Pedalata a Porlezza route is very popular as it gives riders the chance to get off the main roads and see two lakes in one loop! We are very glad you enjoyed the route and the e-bikes, they really do last a long time if used moderately! Thanks for coming to our new location, we hope to see you another time on Lake Como!

We hire bikes for a group of mnates to cycle around lake Como. The 2 people there could not do enough for us & were really helpful pre-hire, at Collection & also Drop-off.
We also bumped into them whilst out riding & again really friendly & would strongly recommend their services. Also helped by having great bikes! If we go back to that area we would use them again without doubt. Thanks

With a backdrop as stunning as Lake Como, I highly recommend soaking in the sights and sounds of the locale via a bike.

Luca and Casey were very helpful with my research before arrival. I wanted to ride along Como lakeside, but knew climbing Ghisallo would be a special experience.

In the end I ended up doing both! Luca accompanied my journey as a guide and took away all the stress of figuring out the best routes.

Great life experience and a highlight of my year to date.

Rented a race bike to explore the environment of the Iseo lake.

The (Bianchi) bike is very good, for cycling in this area.

I drove 500 km in the mountains of Iseo and I did the Iseo lake round ofcourse.

The type of bike is perfect with 28 mm tires, because the roads are sometimes bad.

And the choice of the gears (compact with 32) is very good, there are some steep parts in the climbs (15-20%). The bike is heavy, but stable and comfortable to go up and down the mountains.

However I use private the Shimano dura ace electrical, I like the Ultegra mechanical version.

And using power in the climbs, the bike is driving very good, it is mechanical perfect.

Thanks!

Gabrielle was the best guide and such a character, along with Luca. We did the Bike and Wine Tour -- starting in Bellagio and ended at a winery in Domaso (where George Clooney had the wine from his wedding), where we did a tasting. A car picked us up from Domaso to take us back to Bellagio. This is easily the best way to see each village around the lake, highly recommend. E-bike also made it so we weren't dying by the end.

What an experience! Casey and Luca moved the moon and stars to accommodate us. They are a great team and as the saying goes - a tandem is better than a unicycle. In a charming village with even more charming people lies Bike It! Bellagio. And from there your journey is just beginning - I mean that. Luca and Casey can equip you for whatever adventure your soul desires. Their positivity and "can do" attitude was a sight for sore eyes (and heavy legs). A word to the wise - this experience is NOT to be missed. Dust off that lycra, pop on those cycling shoes and get your ass down to Bike It! Bellagio.
