When you are at the lavatoio, you are in the middle of Città Alta, a medieval part of Bergamo perfectly preserved over the centuries. Walk around to be in an ancient world and find nice restaurants and coffee shops.

Well that's all it is. An old street washouse as depicted in the photo. Interesting perhaps to a washing machine engineer!

Bergamo in general has done excellent job in marking their visitor's landmarks with details. I don't understand how this ancient bath was divided with dividers that I can't imagine how it's used in old days. Close to main street.

This is the original lavatoio basically the place where people used to come and do their washing and it reminds me of when I was a child I used to cycle past similar places in the area

While walking in Città alta, opposite Piazza del fieno, you should not miss this little corner. Lavatoio was used a long time ago to wash clothes, it's no more functioning but is perfectly intact. I haven't seen any so beautiful anywhere.
