Monument to Francesco Nullo is located on Piazza Matteotti in Bergamo. Francesco Nullo was born in Bergamo in 1826. He took part in the Battle of Five Days of Milan in 1848 . Later he fought with Garibaldi at the Battle of Aspromonte. As a supporter of the independence of oppressed nations, he also helped the Polish revolution of 1863. He died in the Battle of Krzykawka on 5 May 1863. He was buried in the cemetery in Olkusz in Poland . In 1907, the city of Bergamo unveiled a monument made by the Milan sculptor Ernesto Bazzaro. This monument shows a marble bust of Francesco Nullo , while in its bronze base we see Nullo on a horse.
