Beautiful church in the center of Bergamo which stands in the square of the same name. Certainly one of the most beautiful Renaissance-style churches in Bergamo. The church was founded in the 1300s. In the 1530 to 1535, the nave was rebuilt with five chapels on each side and Pietro Isabello participated in this 16th-century reconstruction. In 1720, the next refurbishment was led by Giovanni Battista Caniana. Inside, works by local artists and the tomb relics of the Tasso family, but the jewel in this church is the recently restored grand altar of the Renaissance artist Lorenzo Lotto. On the naked facade of the church is a modern bronze sculpture by the sculptor Samaini "Descent of the Holy Spirit". Worth seeing if you are in Begamo.

We didn't go into this church but passed by a couple of times while out wandering. The sculpture on the outside of the church is spectacular

Usially inside the church may be dark.
On the right side of church, there is icon painted Lotto.
Look at the fence in front of an icon.
On the right there is a white switch. Click it and the lights will be turned on.
The church will also become lighter.

A really super (modern) decoration on a medieval facade. Just a great piece of Italian art. Don't hesitate to include this stop in your downtown walks. (cosy area anyway)

It is a really nice Church, built between some important building in the centre of the old town (Città Alta). Due to its position, it is not on the main path of tourists, but its worth to give a look. Nice is the small pedestrian road going up to this church from Via Arena.

It is located between Via Tasso and Via Pignolo, in a corner of the city that it is advisable to go and explore on foot. The church inside is large and well maintained, there are very high columns, important works of art, an altar for the Mass which is a true temple dedicated to the most holy crucifix. A note to be reckoned with, in the hot summers of Bergamo, this place is also a health to the body, allowing the spirit to unwind and gather in prayer, silence and tranquility.
