The Church of San Leonardo is located along the two main shopping streets in lower Bergamo. Perhaps it is the oldest church in this city. Previously, it was probably a pagan temple. The Church of San Leonardo dates from the 11th century. Around 1017, it was dedicated to St. Leonard, patron saint of prisoners and the sick. As in other churches of that time, a hospital was arranged next to it. Over the years, devastated and rebuilt, it owes its present appearance to a thorough renovation carried out at the end of the 20th century. The interior has one nave. Absolutely beautiful.
