The beautiful church of Santa Maria Immacolata Delle Grazie is located at the heart of the Bergamo Bassa at Viale Papa Giovanni XXIII. The church of Santa Maria Immacolata delle Grazie in Bergamo was built in 1857-1875 according to the design of the architect Antonio Preda. There was a Franciscan monastery in this place, but due to the reconstruction of Viale Papa Giovanni XXIII it was rebuilt. The present church was built in the neoclassical style on the Greek cross plan. Its decor largely comes from the old church. The vaults were frescoed by the painter Enrico Scuri. The first church was demolished to pave the way to the rail station. More prayerful than museum it had several locals there in the late afternoon.

This is a beautiful church in the lower city of Bergamo. I enjoyed talking to the sextant of the church as we looked around the church including the sacristy. I am from the US and wouldn't you know when I went into the sacristy I found the computer to be on American politics. the young fellow(a college student) was very well in the Italian constitution.…
