Definitely the best way to get into the "Cittá Alta" ! If blessed by the weather, it is also possible to see a wonderful panorama.

Its purpose is to bring people up to the old town, but I see it more like a fun ride, inexpensive, and offering you a nice view. I highly recommend it.

Good. Cheap and regular. It carries on until quite late as well so that's quite useful. There's one up to Citta Alta and then, on the other side of town, another to get to a higher up town.

If staying in the lower city and you plan on going up to the upper city (Alta Cita), consider buying the multday pass. The frequency of cars depends on the time of day. We took the Funicolare up several times, but chose to walk down....More

Go on this even if you do not need to, to experience the great views of Bergamo. Then walk through the old town and go on the second Funicolare for even better views.
