Storico teatro della Città Alta, ristrutturato recentemente, bell'esempio dell'architettura neoclassica che ha avuto in Bergamo l'architetto Pollak come rappresentante.

This theatre is beautiful. A perfect example of Italian Theatre, authentic and traditional, with red velvet seats, gorgeuous ceiling with huge wooden poles. In the heart of Bergamo Upper Town, don't miss the performance of dance and theatre that are hosted here, they're always of very good quality, with top Italian and Foreign artist performing very interesting shows.

Bergamo's “Teatro Sociale” is a neoclassical building inaugurated in 1808 and designed by Pollack. It's not huge, but its proscenium, clock and paintings have recently been restored and look just like they were 200 years ago. Its inside was painted using bright shades of gold and white, which give the theatre a luxurious style, despite the lack of decorations. In the theatrical season beginning in 2017, it will host several new plays that will attract a huge audience, so it could be an amazing chance for everyone to come and see it, also enjoying the recent restoration that even won a prize of the European Union!

Great Italian Historical Theater.Built in the early 1800s, remained active until 1930. It was reopened to the public in 2009 after a restoration. Brought back to the public from a state of eternal abandonment, it is another pearl of the Bergamo Alta. Fantastic location. Today it is an ideal venue for both theater performances and exhibitions.

We enjoyed a concert in this old renewed theater and was a fantastic experience. Theater itself has a special atmosphere with its wooden balconies. Refurbishment has kept original materials and as soon as you step inside, you are in a magic world

This theatre , a perfect 18/19th century gem , has close connections with Donizetti , who was born in and received his early musical education here . Appropriate that the Donizetti Festival that started only a few years ago , should be based here . We were lucky enough to get seats here for both performances of this year's featured operas , the seldom performed Enrico de Borgogna , and Il Castello di Kenilworth , which features our own Elizabeth the First ( who appears in 3 other Donizetti operas , none which are very historically accurate !) . In both operas international singers of considerable talent and reputation appeared and gave impressive performances , notwithstanding the rather odd production of the first-named opera . At the other performance the atmosphere was really Italian as one imagines it . The house rang to cries of brava , bravo and bravi in appreciation of the wonderful singing . For the best view of the stage the stalls are to be recommended ; in the boxes , depending on their relationship to the stage , you may have to sit at an odd angle to see the action completely .

From outside you wouldn't believe that inside there is a marvellous theater. This year the Donizetti Festival performances were held here, in an amazing atmosphere. The old but totally renewed theater is great.
