“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.” ~ Marcel Proust Santa Margherita Each morning I wake to the sun breaking through the clouds overhead. The sun rays glisten across the majestic Ligurian Sea. There is a kind of magicness about this tiny seaside town. Quaint, calm and oh so personable. Santa... More

Stopped in Portofino and also along the Cinque Terre villages. By far less congested, more reasonably priced and every bit as beautiful! Definitely up to all standards.

One of the must places to visit in Italy. Leads onto other interesting coastal towns too. Northern part of Italy that has style, is fashionable and the Milanese come to show off. Food good too.

This is the best town in the Portafino peninsular because it isn't too perfect and precious (as Portafino is) or such a scruffy commercial centre (like Rapallo). It's a tranquil gem of a laid back town with a lovely sea front. It is possible to walk to both Portafino and Rapallo from SML or you can jump on a bus,... More

We stayed at Hotel Helios for 4 nights after flying into Milan from the states and taking a private car service. In the past we always moved around a lot, this time we decided to stay at SML and explore before heading to CT...so happy we did! Hotel Helios is incredible! Great service and location to everything! We walked to... More

Such a fabulous resort. We went for half a day and just wandered around the bay and back streets Whereas a lot of resorts need repair and maintenance , every thing here feels well looked after and rather upmarket Beautiful bay and lots of lovely statues and sculptures. Definitely include half a day here on your itinerary.

We have just finished our visit and for visiting the other towns - portifino it's a good base however be aware that this is a huge tourist destination and is very busy in summer months . Deck chairs etc are priced according to month and August for us is a no no as local trade descend on the place .... More

We originally wanted to stay in Portofino but everything was booked. We read trip advisor recommendations to stay in SML so we did. It's a lovely town with much more to do than Portofino, which we visited for a day trip which was perfect. SML was very walkable with a lot of restaurants and nice beach. Definitely recommend!!

Just the best place to stay for holidays in this part of Italy, nice beaches and a lot of opportunities to reach easily all the places of interest nearby.Open people, great sea and views, especially during sunrise and sunset time. Absolute relaxation and some jealosy for the local people, who can see such a beauty daily
