Currently being repaired

Worth seeing but currently being repaired as is much of the area around it. Good photo opportunity when the flag is in full flight.

Incendio del Castello con la Processione Religiosa del Crocifissi / Rapallo
Jul 2017 • Family
The famous castle of Rapallo is build on the seaside (1550) to defend itself against the
Saracenic ongoing attacks; nowaday there are many exibitions and feasts ; Rapallo has a pyrotechnical tradition and makes fireshows with hundreds of floating nightlights
illuminating the castle and the gulf by night.

Ancient castle on the sea
Sep 2016 • Couples
The castle sits at one end of the seaside promenade and is highly visible as it sits out onto the sea. It was not opened during our visit, so we had only looked around on the outside. Worth a visit both during the day and night for photos.

Incendo del Castello con la Processione

This castle is in a prominent position on the lungomare, and was built originally in 1551 to protect Rapallo from pirate invasions. Late it became a prison, but is now a venue for exhibitions.

Indoor/Outdoor Castles and their aspects.
Oct 2014
Oh the times I had on this unopened castle. Looking at it online, looking at its exterior in person, imagining tipsily from the back of a friend's moped what it would be like to look at it online again as we zipped past it.
Almost as good as online.

Internet is better than the exterior of water castles.
But never the interior.

A wonderful time to be in Rapallo
Jul 2014 • Couples
If you happen to be in Rapallo on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd of July, Rapallo vants a wonderful fireworks display and religious procession dedicated to the Madonna of Monteallegro, their patron Saint. The fireworks display is put on by committees which represent the six quarters (sestriere-neighborhoods) of Rapallo. The religious procession which takes place in the early evening is a sight to see, where very tall and heavy wooden crucifixes are carried throughout Rapallo. The firework displays are very impressive and take place on all three evenings (weather permitting). The festivities end with the 'lighting' of the Castle of Rapallo on the third day. It is one of the nicest times to be in Rapallo and fun to enjoy some of the many food stalls scattered around the city during this period which are sponsered by the six 'sestriere'. Check your hotel or the local tourist office for times and schedules.

Very pleased to visit the Castello, as it was very interesting!!
May 2015 • Couples
We were very pleased that the Castello was open, as it was very interesting!! We were staying at the Lido hotel right in front of the castle. We noticed that it was open, and went in. It was very interesting!!! and there was also an art exhibition going on, so that was a bonus!! I understand it is not always open, so you might want to check first. I think it was free, at least on the day we went.

Stunning looking place
Feb 2014 • Friends
I couldn't actually go into the building as it wasn't open until a week or so after I had left, but still stunning to look at and in a great location.
