You can walk, drive or catch the cable car (my preference) to the top of the hill. Take in the scenery and take a stroll through and around the site. Allow up to 1 hour if you don’t stop for food or go hiking.
After a while all churches begin to look the same. The architecture and icons are are still very beautiful but the mountain top view is what sets this one apart. A nice walk around the area is an added bonus.
I always manage to ride up the mountain and visit this church . The lift from below in Rapallo also brings you up here but I enjoy the scenic ride . It was a warm September afternoon so it was nice with all the trees...More
We took the cable car up to Montallegro and the views were excellent. The Sancturario di Montallegro is a very imposing church that dominates the mountain top. The facade is tremendous and the interior is decorated extensively.

We would recommend you visit this church, from Rapallo on the Funivia. A short walk up the path and steps to find this retreat. Beautiful ornate, decorate frescos and stunning vistas of the surrounding mountains/villages.
