Lovely Church

Locals frequent this church for mass. You can see its facade from the main square and hear its bells ringing every hour

This magnificent church with its typical striped facade has an amazing interior. The altars are adorned with gold, the ceiling is painted like the Sistine chapel, the sculptures remind me of St Peter's in Rome. There is a beautiful bell tower too and the bell can be heard ringing all over Portofino. It's a steep climb but worth it!

I am not suggesting, this as an appropriate or respectful protocol, nor do I I any way wish to minimize the powerful impact and devotion that goes into the expressionism inside what upon approach initially seems a tranquil house of worship. Nevertheless, taking in the incredible array of compelling details inside Chiesa San Martino can be quite imposing for one... More

This church has a simple exterior with a surprisingly beautiful interior. The ceiling was especially beautiful. The views overlooking the city below were really beautiful. Thought this was well the time to spend a bit of time viewing despite all the wonderful things to see in Portofino.

Truely a must for anyone to visit during your stay- breathtaking views from the church. The paintings, and mosaics are really lovely and the whole place was calming and it is worth sitting and taking it all in

We were wandering around and came to this chiesa. It was nice and work a look if you find yourself standing in front of it. Beautiful stained glass windows and some good statues and frescos.

We were exploring around Portofino and came across this church at the top of a hill. We decided to go in and have a look. The inside is richly decorated and nice to look around. You don't need to stay long but it's a great thing to see if you need to take a break from the sun. Upon exiting,... More

Lovely church, especially the stained glass windows. Nice prospect/view over to harbor to the Chiesa di San Giorgio. If pressed for time, skip it though and head to the San Giorgio - if for the view alone.
