    Is it really a Marina!!!!
Very small marina located smack bang in front of Portofino buildings. So small with only a few boats anchored in February in the marina it had no atmosphere for me, but maybe in summer it’s different. Whole area is very small but beautiful to see and admire.

Picturesque harbour, but crowded and expensive
The harbour of Portofino is one of the most picturesque in Liguria. Unfortunately this also makes it probably the most expensive place along the coast and one that is overrun by tourists. Thus when visiting, it’s highly recommended to come early before the arrival of all the boats with group tours. It’s definitely a place to visit once when in the area. We went there, took some nice pictures and then proceeded to some less crowded and less expensive places.

This marina is absolutely charming. You can walk on each side, a narrow deck with trendy boutiques and nice restaurants on the left (looking at the sea) and a wider walk on the right.
Maybe the best view on the marina can be achieved by walking up the path to Brown Castle and looking backward.

We've visited Portofino before. During Covid-19. And it was busy even then. Now of course it was even busier.

But it's a place worth visiting. The town itself is pretty compact and easy to walk. The main attraction and heart of it is of course the Marina with the boats, Yachts and all the colorful buildings. And the Castle sitting on top of the hill, overlooking the Marina.

There are some special events sometimes. Like this time. Wine, cheese, meat - all kinds of things to taste and buy right on the Marina.

Get a drink in a restaurant or Café to watch the world go by. Or bring some picnic with and sit down on one of the many benches around the Marina.

This time we left the car in Santa Margherita (where we stayed for a few days) and took the bus here and the ferry back. Way better and easier. Parking is limited and expensive. Better take the public transportations if possible.

Portofino is a pretty town. But don't miss out on Santa Margherita, Lerici or Camogli. All worth a trip.

We booked a boat trip to Portofino from Genoa.
The Italian riviera is a dream place and the trip along the coast is incredible.
The first encounter with the beautiful village is provided by the splendid Marina with its luxurious boats, colorful buildings, rich forests and turquoise waters.
A place to sit and enjoy the view.

We visited the Portofino Marina a week ago. Wow!!!! It's like a dream come true. It is one of the best places I ever visited in my life. So beautiful, breathtaking, we already made plans to come back next summer for a romantic trip with my wife without the children ;)

A marina is a marina right.? Not when you’ve seen Portofino marina - this really is stunning and I only wish I were able to post a video I took arriving at the marina which highlights its beauty.

It’s only small as marinas go but must be one of the most stunning in the world with gorgeous multi-coloured buildings and restaurants surrounding it. You may walk either side and if you’re feeling flush you can have a meal at one of the harbour side restaurants, there’s many to choose from.

You’ll possibly see the multi million pound boat Skyfall moored there unless it’s been hired out for the week (£300,000+ in summer).

The village is small and super tourists oriented. Prices are extremely high.
20 min. Will cover most of what there is to see.
Locals we met were not very friendly and service was terrible.
Try locating a different location to visit.

One of the most beautiful places you will ever see. The marina is in great condition with so many great places to stop for a drink or something to eat.

It's a very strange greeting to encounter this huge creature as our tenders arrive in Portofino, ready to launch a D-Day style invasion with our selfi-sticks, walking sticks, and sheer volume of humanity. The normal population of Portofino (500 people) swells exponentially to about 4,000 or 5,000 each time our ships come into port.

Now, as near as I can tell, the rhino may be indirectly advertising the sculpture park (museo del parco) over which entry the rhino hangs like the sword of Damocles. Pity the person under that when the fabric straps reach the end of their useful life.

Furthermore, I can safely attest that I saw no rhinos slurping gelatos in the square, lumbering up the path to Al Faro Bar, or cavorting in the waters of the marina. The creatures I encountered were all perambulating about on two legs (mostly). Walking sticks are a different story.

So, the lovely marina is encompassed in a protected zone; no cruise ships can enter. Ships anchor off shore a bit and tender in the troops of tourists to the Molo Umberto I tender point. The marina has very nice smaller-scale vessels (the big kahunas all go to Monaco) and a wide assortment of tourist-y boats for sightseeing (what! I've been on a ship for how many days now and I should want to get on another boat?)

The marina is, as its name implies, a "marina" and swimming isn't done here. However, there's a really darling micro-mini beach people can reach when following the trail to Al Faro Bar; it's a side-path down and, in the words of Yogi Berra, "when you come to the fork in the road, take it." There are kayaks going by there, too. Can't say I've seen a place to rent them in the marina but the marina is so intensely packed it is easy to miss that water sport opportunity.

The marina is the lauching point to Piazza Martiri deli Olivetta. Small gift shops, vendors' tables, restaurants, boutique hotels, the local police department, and all paths up,down, and around seem to permeate from this plaza. Upon approach, the marina may quite possibly be the most beautiful scene eyeballs will ever witness. Words cannot describe it (but a million or so selfies can!)
