The new sculptures/arches are found on Piazza Giuseppe Verdi. It makes a pleasant feeling while walking around the area in seeing the modern art combines with the existing city center.

I love art, own a fair bit and go out of my way to enjoy it but a key rule for me--it must fit well with its surroundings. These squared off, shiny arches certainly don't add anything to the beauty of this piazza--in my opinion they detract!! Looks more like a giant shiny croquet game!!! Or maybe they were going for dog friendly structures in lieu of fire hydrants!!!

I thought that was a very interesting place. The arches are lovely and are all along the centre of a square.

We stayed in La Spezia for four nights in August, and several nights, I hung out here, well into 11pm, just to sit and hang out amidst a modern art in a city park, where old mixes w new. It was safe, and there were some few (but not many ) gelato and restaurants. But mostly just to sit out in warm summer nights, and hang out in not busy but peaceful setting, w art in an old city. Not a destination for sure, but nice if u are here already.

Art is great, it makes you talk, you either like it or not but at least you have an opinion and it makes you take a stand and that is what I think is so facinating.
I dont know if I find it nice but something different for sure.
New meets old, I also like that idea and it makes this part of town stand out.
It gives the place a unique look and you remember beeing here and seeing it, so the artist has done well.

I accidentally pressed the "helpful" button on the review titled orrible. In fact I found it a really pleasant space the town has created to contrast the old and new of the city. Not sure why people would not like it. The space and art is really well presented and a great space to share and explore.

Piazza Verdi was a very nice classic square with gorgeous maritime pine trees.
Unfortunately the mayor decided to turn that in a modern "monster" that has nothing to do with the surrendering architectural style .
This is probably the main reason that his candidate lost the elections.

An interesting bit of sculpture in an otherwise old style city, nice open space, fairly quiet with many places to sit

it was a pleasant surprise when walking around La Spezia center. This impressive sculpture is in the middle of a busy square, full of shops and traffic so be careful when staring at it and take some time to walk around and see it all. A must see in La Spezia
