This monument should be taken down. I was very displeased to see this as I was arriving in Genoa, noticing an indigenous person kneeling next to him. Luckily the locals in Genoa do not celebrate Cristofer Colombus, which made my trip and stay in Genoa bearable and enjoyable. Try the pasta, swim in the ocean, hang with the locals, but this monument should be taken down.

We didn't have to walk far and wide to look for this monument. It was right in front of our hotel. From our room's window we can have a higher angle to take beautiful photos of this elegant grand monument. The monument is located in front of Piazza del Principal Train Station. It's a well deserved place to set Cristoforo Colombo monument for tourists and locals passes by to admire. Happy Travelling!

I wanted to visit it because I have seen the largest Columbus Monument in Barcelona. (As I know there are 64 of them in the world). This white statue is totally different. It stands near the main railway station. We sat on a bench next to it to relax. The background is fantastic with coloured houses.

The statue of Christopher Columbus is just outside the railway station. A nice monument to Genoa's most famous son, but not worth going out of your way to see.

Don’t go out if your way to find the Columbus monument. The monument is nice; however, it is not spectacular.

Meeting you upon arrival at the main long distance train station in Genoa is the huge statue to Cristobal Colon (Columbus). At night it can't be missed due to the magnificent lighting. Interesting part of a proud history of Genoa and it's role in ushering the Age of Discovery.

Piazza del Principe is the city square located directly in front of the Stazione di Genova Piazza Principe. Here you will find a huge statue of Christopher Columbus in the center of the square. Christopher Columbus, who accidently discovered America, was born in Genoa. This is a lovely monument to him.

You will see thousands on monuments around Italy dedicated to thousands of famous persons. They could be of anything, but one thing in common is the architecture of the time. They are not mostly abstract but depict sculptures and ideas that you can appreciate and marvel.
This one is no different. The inscription is simple- A Cristoforo Colombo. La Patria. It's a massive monument and well dedicated to someone who certainly deserves the accolade.
Go and have a look.
