One of Genoa's best palaces.
Oct 2019 • Couples
We visited during the Rolli days festival so got free entry everywhere.
This is one of the biggest and best of Genoa's palaces and has a beautiful exhibition of paintings and other art.
Not to be missed so that one can get a true feel of Genoa in olden days.

Nice museum

The palace is wonderful, even though is not in a perfect state. The painting collection has many works of true interest. One Veronese, a few Van Eycks, and many other from not famous Italian artists. The palace has a lot of nice and peculiar details

Fantastic Architecture

Palazzo Rosso is a beautiful building among MANY on via Garibaldi. You can't miss it when you are on via Garibaldi, colored in red. The rooms are spacious and there are fine arts to be admired. Loved it.

We were really looking forward to visiting here but it was such a let down.

The palace is quite unkempt and scruffy which was a surprise given its heritage.

The art collection, as mentioned in other reviews, was limited in decent pieces. Some were just plain awful.

The apartments further up got better but you still left thinking if you hadn't been you life would not be the worse for it.

The better art collection was the other side of the road at palazzo bianco. A much better visit.

Having travelled all over Italy you tend to find if you've seen one italian religious painting you pretty much get the idea of what the rest are going to be like.

It is a beautiful building but it is not a must when you are in Genoa . You can do other activities instead of this one

Great building and excellent art. The rooms are spacious and make it easy to get around. It’s on a great street in an excellent area as well.

Beautiful art shown badly.
Feb 2019 • Couples
Off course, this palazzo contains great artworks ,but it is a shame to see how the management doesn't seem to care for them. Especially the lighting is done without care. In some places the(horrible) lights are pointed at the wall next to the paintings, leaving them in the dark, or with terrible reflections. Highlighting the shabby upholstery. Especially the Van Dyck paintings are hung in a terrible way. Huge dissapointment for someone who is interested in these works.
Especially after noticing how this beautiful palazzo has been raped by horrible, useless and no doubt very costly recent architectural additions, it makes your blood boil that not sufficient money and care has been spent on showing the collection properly. The completely useless, modern spiral staircase... obviously a great source of kickbacks for the persons who ordered it's construction... reminding one of the elevated highway that destroyed the waterfront, or for that matter this beautiful historical city. A showcase of a city in decadence.
Shame on you!

Splendid

Magnificent architecture and contains a great collection of paintings, and has a great terrace that you could go up to on the roof to take a nice shot of the old town....

However it is disappointing to see that it is decadent, not cleaned and well maintained....

Wonderful Art Work!
Aug 2018 • Couples
We really enjoyed our tour of the Palazzo Rosso. How wonderful to see such great works of art and in an old mansion. As You climb all the stairs (because of the high ceilings), you realize you have really stepped back in time.
