About

it ist the best idea for food lovers... in about 3 / 3.5 hours we got known the kitchen of genova (again)... marina showed us some insiders of the genovese people... nothing were you would step into as a tourist. we were a small group of three and very lucky to do the tour in the off-season in march, so we had a "private" tour. it is not just walking around and eating, marina also told us about history, knew very much things so it was also like a really goof conversation with friends! our tip is: do not eat too much breakfast, if you choose the 11:30 tour, you will get enough to eat!

Marina was an amazing guide on our food tour! Funny, knowledgable and gave so many recommendations, which was extremely helpful for the rest of our stay in Genoa. A great experience overall. Highly recommend!

Purchased as a birthday present for my husband, the tour did not disappoint. Marina was a great hostess, imparting both her love and knowledge of Genoa, as well as expertly navigating us through the small streets of Genoa, stopping of at five very different eateries, Marina was able to give information and background to everything we ate. And there was plenty of it! Definitely a day to remember.

It has been raining all day long, but Marina has distracted from the rain with her thrilling stories, lots of fun and joy. She is a great guide with a lot of knowledge about her city, lots of warmth and humor. We loved the food! We would book the tour again immediately. Thank you dear Marina, keep up the good work!

We got lucky and essentially had a private tour. Went to some awesome restaurants and ate more food than we thought possible. Good selection of restaurants and variety of foods. Our tour guide was great.

Silvia was a very knowledgeable guide on places to eat in Genoa as well as helpful information on Genoa itself.
The tour involved 5 food stops covering noted Genovese cuisines (seafood, torte, focaccia and pesto alla genovese).
One tip though, make sure you do the tour on an empty stomach as you will be eating a lot of food!

I booked this looking for a different excursion experience from the normal cruise offerings. It was one of the best decisions I made. Booking was easy, instructions as to where and who to meet were detailed. And our guide, Sylvia, was fantastic. Her knowledge of food, culture and the region was exceptional. Her restaurant choices and the progression of the "meal" was perfect. She warned us there would be a lot of eating but we were sorely unprepared for the amount of food we would end up consuming. But we soldiered through it. The only down side is that the Italian restaurants, and especially the Focaccia, back home are now a disappointing excuse for Italian food. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone who loves food.

I will start with the positive which was the guide Marina. She was very pleasant and personable during our tour. That was the best thing…everything else can be improved upon.

The tour begins in a crowded area with a number of people and street vendors approaching you. Your tour guide does not have a sign so you are just looking around Hoping you find your tour group. Second, their are no introductions to others in your group. We were about an hour in before everyone in our group realized that we were all from the same cruise ship.

We were not told at the beginning what we would eat at each stop. There were 4 stops, including dessert and each were focaccia…no meat, no vegetables, no fruit but ALL the carbs you can imagine. The first stops had a great basic focaccia and cappuccino. Then the next stop had more focaccia and water. Third stop was focaccia and a cocktail. There was also an extremely bland pasta with walnut pesto. As someone who has visited Italy previous the food on this tour was not indicative of the rich flavors and variety that can be found in Italy.

Weirdly enough, Genoa salami was not given or spoken about on our tour.

Our group made the decision to alter the tour and have the last stop be Gelato which turned out to be the best thing on the tour but again it is not normally a part of the tour.

I do not recommend this tour at all. The tour company really needs to revamp its offerings.

We’ve done quite a few food walking tours in various European cities, and this one was up there with the best of them. Beatrice was a fantastic guide. It was like spending three hours with a friend as she guided us through the network of medieval streets. We had sooooo much food - way more than on other tours we’ve done - and it was all amazing. We did the Traditional Food Tour which differs from the Streetfood Tour because you get to sit down in restaurants rather just walking as you eat. Beatrice took us to some hidden gems, which we’d never have found on our own (and we’d done our research too). I can’t recommend this tour highly enough as a great introduction to the town and its food. Thanks Beatrice x

A girlfriend and I took the Do Eat Better Experience Food Tour in Genoa! It was over 3 hours long and our Guide (Marina) took us to some awesome little places to try the food from Italy. It was so much more than a food tour. She told us about the history and culture of Genoa and Italy and we walked all around Genoa looking at buildings, palaces, and eating our way thru Genoa! We had some amazing seafood, pesto, and specialty foods from Genoa! Highly recommend this tour!!
