If you are visiting the Church of San Francesco, you will pass it either on the way up or the way down. Nice views of the beach from up here.

Located above the Monterosso harbor, this is a nice 15 minute excursion from the old town. The statue itself has St Francis depicted with a dog showing his love for all creatures. Church located just a little further up the hill.

The walk to the Monumento was fairly easy. The views of Monterosso and the rocks are beautiful. It’s worth the brief walk as part of a tour in the area but the statue itself is not spectacular.

Not a difficult climb, it might be a little taugh when it’s hot, but other than that it’s a 10-25 minutes way up to the statue. It’s not too steep either, so it’s perfectly safe. At the top you can cisit a cementary but honestly...More

Well worth the climb. Lovely statue and beautiful view from this point. Probably not the best for people travelling with small children. I found it very interesting.

Hi The path was fairly solid and I would say would take no more than 30 minutes. It's a great view from the top and definitely worth the hike. Regards, Clare.

I am Kenneth from Singapore. I shall be spending a brief stopover on 2/1/2017 in Monterosso on 3/1/2017 (as I have business trip in Milan through the new year - and I only could afford a day train trip from Milan to Monterosso - my train departs Milan 0800am and arrives Monteross 11am) - so I probably could only spend 4-5 hours and have to catch the train at 5pm to return to Milan - hence, I would be most appreciative if you could advise me - how and where is the easiest start point to climb up the hill that lead to Statue of St Francis Assisi in the old town, and how much time (or how long the round trip up and down the hill on foot) roughly it takes from start to the point where the panoramic spot that offers breathtaking view of the old town and coastal areas. Thank you in advance for your valuable precious information
