Since April 2012, in Manarola there is the new shop "Explora" dedicated to the world of trekking! Located right in the center of Manarola, in Cinque Terre, we offer you an outdoor store with selected brands for hiking shoes and equipment. Here you can book tours and excursions in the Cinque Terre: sailing tours, guided hikes, wine tastings, fishing, cooking courses, etc...

We dropped off our luggage so that we could visit the town of Manarola quietly without any hassle. The luggage was very well kept only we told her to come pick up the suitcases at 1 p.m. she told us that it was closed and that it was only possible to pick them up at 2 p.m. and made us pay 10€ (5€ per piece of luggage). We come after 2 hours to collect our luggage at 12:20 p.m. and she does not reimburse us for the €6 of unused time. This is dishonesty towards tourists.

We needed some trekking poles after the hike from Riomaggiore as we were headed for Corniglia. We wanted some compact folding poles and the proprietress had some Italian-made ones for 1/2 the prices of comparable Lekis (too long - not women's sizes) at the other shop. She very efficiently let us try the one we wanted and then got us a new package. All done in minutes.

Great store with excellent service. They were our contact point for our Airbnb. The young ladies were welcoming and helped us with our transport back to the airport after we realized that the train wasn’t going to leave early enough for our flight.

As described on the window, she really is the rudest shop assistant of the area.
We were advised that we can put our luggages here, however the shop was closed and we were crusing around from 9.00 to 12.30, when i saw a lady in the shop. I knocked and she agressively waved at me to go away.

I’ve never seen such great hiking/exercise shirts made out of merino wool. I bought two shirts (appreciated the discount they gave too) and have been extremely happy with them. The service was great for us too.

My husband and I called in to try and book an evening boat cruise. The sales woman told us she would email her skipper and asked us to ensure we continually checked our email as she would let us know ASAP whether or not he was available to take us out the following day. Some 6 hours later we had not heard anything so we went back to the shop and the sales woman said 'oh didn't email you because all boat trips are cancelled because of the weather. Bye'. She clearly had no interest in offering any customer service or assistance and I would question whether she even bothered to email the skipper, as she had not even bothered to email us to let us know. Further - the weather has been and was forecasted to be (and was) picture perfect blaring conditions! Overall incredibly disappointing and would suggest using another vendor to book activities.

Supposing that all that has been written is true and considering the carelessness used to discredit companies and even people, leaving some reviews based on her own Perceptions and on her own Suppositions I would like to say I disagree with your criticism because I know to do my job well and never get complain. Regarding your claim about the weather I just did what the skipper told me to do .

We set out to find the Trekking Store in Manarola and stumbled into Explora. It was a very interesting store with lots of hiking paraphernalia including a wide variety of hiking shoes. Prices seemed quite comparable to what you would find in California. We were seeking info on the trail status. We purchased a large map of the hiking trails and the person spent plenty of time explaining which trails were open. Definitely worth a visit if you are a serious hiker.
