The Old Town of Trieste is nothing great and certainly not worth going out of your way to visit. Trieste has a few decent restaurants but the sights and history is lacking.

Brilliant spot to lose yourself for a while, wandering the narrow streets and stairs of Trieste. Occasional Roman ruins stand out, as do the wine-bars and restaurants. Keep your eyes open.

It was great just walking around this part of Trieste, with the odd bit of roman building and the wonderful little shops and a pedestrian precinct made it a great time

Many passengers from cruise ships fail to explore this port city, which is the call ships make, to allow visits to Rome. But they are missing out on excellent shopping, lovely restaurants and magnificent buildings. The side streets are full of interesting and historical sights,...More

Trieste has a mixture of Austrian and Italian influence, walk around, don't follow maps, enjoy the little streets and alleys.

The heart of the Old Town is Piazza dell'Unita d'Italia. This is huge with magnificent buildings facing the sea. Behind it, climb up the narrow streets and you will find the San Giusto Castle and Cathedral. The Roman theater is midway up the hill and...More
