After Vienna I had no idea about the Habsburg influence in and around Triëste. Very well preserved and a good insight in how aristocracy lived around 1860s. Especially our daughters 12 - 17 liked it a lot.

A very beautifull castle with a lot of small details and great park to walk and chill in shade, overlooking the nice little lakes and the greenery. The ice cream is also very good, the cafe in park is not really a good place to go (unfrendly personel), but otherwise its a great place to visit.

I took the number 6 bus from behind the train station to the last stop (€1.35) and entered the park via the rear entrance. Entrance to the park is free. There are no paper maps but plenty of signs and explanatory boards. There is some parking on the narrow road to the front entrance but it was rammed with cars... More

This is the 2nd time in my life visiting Castle Miramare, the first when I was 15 years old. This time I brought my family of 4. We took a tour of the Castle but did not have time to see the grounds. One can make a day of just the Castle and grounds, as well as visiting Trieste. The... More

I am a castle lover, and my favourites are always those with a lot of water around it, specially sea water. This castle is PERFECT for a wedding reception or for a gala dinner, as far as it is outdoors. the interior is well preserved and very good explained, even if you do not take the audioguide. The entry ticket... More

The castle was wonderful. The park free, only for the castle be paid. 8 euro/person. is not expensiv. The exhibiton well organized, every room you find the table with explanations. One part of the first floor dedicated to Amedeo of Savoy-Aosta.Touching story we know it. Everywhere you can made the photos, without flash. The garden is not like Schönbrunn. But... More

Wow this really is the castle you dream of in fairy tales! Stunning! Well worth a visit. The hardest thing was getting a bus ticket to this place! The number 6 bus runs from the station (right near the train station).you get tickets from a little newsagent booth in the train station or near the 6 bus stop. It was... More

The Castle of Miramare is amazing from the outside and the interior is even more so. The interior is almost all in wood - that includes floors, walls and ceilings. It's location makes it even more fascinating as it is surrounded by the sea. The surrounding park is good for a nice walk, however I believe it needs some maintenance.

We opted against going inside as the lineups to get in were long and it was so crowded inside as seen through the windows. Nonetheless, it was worth the visit. The grounds and views are stunning. Gardens, picturesque paths, and views of the Adriatic make it worthwhile for all.

The castle complex is in my humble opinion one of the best place I have ever been to. It is situated on a perfect place with magnificent gardens and small dock. The architecture of the palace is amazing and interior is stunning. It was built for duke Maximilian of Habsburg, later unfortunate emperor of Mexico, brother of Austro-Hungarian emperor Franz...
