The Miramare castle was the most beautiful location in the city in our opinion. Of course the historical town is beautiful, but it's kind of similar to many other cities in italy and Europe. Miramare is more unique. It's a nice mansion location in a rocky promontory with a beautiful park behind it. You have combined views of the sea,... More

We took a bus here and it was quite easy as it was at the end of the bus line. It was interesting and a great place to visit. Prepared to do a lot of walking. The gardens are nice to walk through and there is a small café on site.

A most romantic location, with an impressive panorama and a tragic history: Maximilian, who was supposed to live here with his wife, did not really have a chance to enjoy this great location, since he was murdered in Mexico. Luckily, we can now take advantage of his lovely mansion.

This castle is the real deal - you are able to see many rooms decorated as they were for the original inhabitants/owners as well as a few in those of another generation. We did not get the audio tour and found the English language markers/descriptions in each of the rooms more than adequate. Be sure to make time to tour... More

Walked from our hotel the first afternoon we were in Trieste (it was less than 1 mile) and enjoyed the walk on the Promenade, and the visit to the castle. It is well worth the entry fee. Each room is well appointed, and there is enough explanation in each room (in English, too) for us to follow what was what.... More

If you're lucky with the weather then this place can make for some really good photos. The interior isn't quite as interesting. Well worth arriving early to avoid the crowds: I was quite surprised by the long line of people waiting to go in as I left. A highlight of a visit to Trieste. The park is really nice also... More

Been here a couple of times. The rooms inside are very beautifully done. Unfortunately the gardens have been other work since the first time we have visited but hopefully will be able to see them in all of their glory next year. The history behind the place is also very interesting. I think the best area is the small stone... More

Its a nice Castle in a great location right up on the sea. The interior is worth visiting, as there are a number of different themed rooms with a few antiquities from different periods and areas. The walk through the surrounding park is also quite enjoyable, and you can easily spend a few hours here. To top it off you... More
