This paved walkway is long, streches up to the Miramar castle. It is the beach of the locals, every 200-300-meters there is a small pavilon where you can get some cool drinks and some food. If you take bus Nr. 6 - you can easily get there from city center.

This stretch of pavement is firmly anchored in the hearts of the local population. It's the closest thing Trieste has to a beach and one of the biggest parks in the city. As such during the summer it turns in a continuous strip of people tanning and many others trying to get fit in the near pineta. During the other... More

Long, nice promenade for a long walks. On one side is sea and promenade, and on the other side are caffe bars and restaurants... On the very end od promenade is beautifull castle Miramare.. Barcola is very famous of the sailing regatta "Barcolana"...

The most popular public beach. Clean, but without any possibility to change the cloths. You better use a bus or be ready to pay a substantial parking fee, if you are lucky to find a spot. A possible alternative: bathing facilities in the City. One of Them is funky, since it sticks to the rules introduced at the beginning of... More

OK to get out of the heat of the City especially by a 15 min boat ride for 5E round trip, but not a safe place for swimming and not much in terms of shops, stores or places to eat. If you simply want to be near the water or under the shade of all the trees in the park... More

Barcola is a great place to meet. Rain or shine go and walk around in Barcola. Of course, when you have the sun is much better. There are points where you can swim, drink beer and enjoy the horizon. The road goes toward the castle of Miramare, then you can add one tivity to another.

Spent a lovely day relaxing at Barcola. As pictured, this isn't a sandy beach, but we still found it perfect. It was about a 20 min cab from our hotel near the Piazza dell'Unita d'Italia. There were cabs waiting by the beach for our return trip - very easy trip.

Famous promenade, north of the city. Quite good for relaxed walk and enjoying sunshine and Adriatic seabreeze. Can get rather crowded and noisy during summer.
