OK to get out of the heat of the City especially by a 15 min boat ride for 5E round trip, but not a safe place for swimming and not much in terms of shops, stores or places to eat. If you simply want to be near the water or under the shade of all the trees in the park... More

Barcola is a great place to meet. Rain or shine go and walk around in Barcola. Of course, when you have the sun is much better. There are points where you can swim, drink beer and enjoy the horizon. The road goes toward the castle of Miramare, then you can add one tivity to another.

Spent a lovely day relaxing at Barcola. As pictured, this isn't a sandy beach, but we still found it perfect. It was about a 20 min cab from our hotel near the Piazza dell'Unita d'Italia. There were cabs waiting by the beach for our return trip - very easy trip.

Famous promenade, north of the city. Quite good for relaxed walk and enjoying sunshine and Adriatic seabreeze. Can get rather crowded and noisy during summer.

Everyone in Trieste comes here to sunbathe and swim during the long warm months, even seizing office lunch pause. This custom of mixing among people of different social and economic class is one of the things that make Trieste a strong democratic and civilized society. The sea is generally clean and there are many points to get easy into the... More

A popular place to take walks, enjoy the sun, sea, fun. Full of people walking, sunbathing and drinking in the cafes when the weather is nice. In the summertime it gets very crowdy because this is the beach of Trieste.

Dont' miss Barcola if you're in TS. Take a walk, or cycle down to the Castello di Miramar. Five miles or so from there back to the centre of TS.

Coming from the province and get to Trieste by the "coastal", Barcola is a myth for both the sea and the close relation to the level of the same, and because in the summer you can see many swimmers from the morning. The main attraction are the topless young ladies strolling on the pedestrian and are davvedo a huge distraction... More

People tend to go there to sunbathe as if it was a beach. It's actually more of a promenade sort of thing by the sea, but there are lots of people just sunbathing on the concrete walk. It'd be much a nicer walk if it wasn't packed with half naked sweaty people.
