This is a very inexpensive way to get great views from above Trieste. There is a walk at the next to the last stop (at the obelisk) that we decided not to do since two members of our party weren't up to a long walk. However, it looked like it would be very nice. You can get lunch in the... More

Great fun, kids would love this, view spectacular, certainly worth the time. Found it not at all crowded but we were there mid week.

It links Piazza Oberdan, on the northern edge of the city center, with the village of Villa Opicina in the hills above. The longer upper section, from Vetta Scorcola to Villa Opicina, is mostly on roadside reservation or private right-of-way in open rural country.

What better way to travel than a historic tram? With the price of a regular bus ticket you can experience a historical tram and be taken from the blue waves of the Adriatic Sea to the fresh air of the Triestin Karst plateau!

Bumpy ride with old Tramways, but one in a life time experiance, wouldnt do that again, it is like an old park of amuzement that needs to stay in museum. :(

On Tuesday morning (16.8.16) two of the Opicina trams crashed into each other and the tramway has been suspended. You need to check whether or not it is back in operation locally beforehand.

This old tramway is very interesting. I mean nowhere in Europe, you cannot find a tramway with panorama like this. I offer to get off at station "obelisco". Here you find the turistic path, with breathtake wiev of Triest gulf. You can by the ticket Oberdan place, in newspaper stand. In obelisco staion, you cant buy ticket!

The Vila Opicina Tramway is a cool little vintage street car. It is inexpensive and offers great views. It's pretty slow and using it to transfer between Trieste Centrale station and Vila Opicina station took way longer than expected.

The over 100 year-old tramway between Trieste and Opicina, in the sorrounding hills, is one of the best sights when visiting Trieste. The trip starts right from the centre of Trieste, which is great as one does not have to reach in the suburbs by other means of public transport. The ticket price is very reasonable as it costs as...
