Walking from the Cathedral of San Giusto towards the Castle of San Giusto we came upon a flat terrace with building ruins. Unknown to us this was the site of a first century Basilica which was uncovered in the early twentieth century during the construction of the nearby monument to the fallen. From the far end of the site there are some views over Trieste and the sea.

Nice views of the area, probably wouldn't go out of my way to see it though but fits in well with other points of interest in the area.

Right beside the Cathedral are the remains of the Roman forum, a few columns, and a rectangular area. Behind the forum stands, imposing, the Castello di San Giusto

It was a long, hot, summer walk to the top of this hill in Trieste from the shore of the Adriatic to see the ruins of the Forense Roman Basilica. All you have left here are the lower ruins of pillars/columns that once held up and supported this ancient basilica. I was hoping to see more and be more excited about this, but the truth is that I could have easily passed this up to spend time elsewhere. I saw this, great, but I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to see this again.
