This fountain was built in 1543 by Giovanni da Carrara and was the only source of drinking water in the city until 1912, when the public water pipes were completed. The fountain is composed of three dishes descending in size towards the centre. The central dish is surmounted by a drum and sculpture of a pine cone. Each of the dishes has a circular outline, although formed from shapes of overlapping circles. Imagine a trefoil or quatrefoil, but many more circles. The fountain even has a connection to Leonardo da Vinci whose testimony is engraved on the monument: "Make harmony with the different falls of water, as you saw at the source of Rimini.". The second dish is smaller than the base dish and has a similar design, except that it’s decorated with miniature columns, each with a different style or bas-relief. A nice landmark in Piazza Cavour.

Three buildings overlook the square. The oldest is Palazzo dell’Arengo, built in 1204. Next to it, the Podestà residence was built in the 14th century. And then Garampi Palace that was built at the end of the 16th century. It's now the town hall residence.
From the square, you enter the 18th-century fish market, one of the most characteristic corners of the city.
..you have to know that Leonardo da Vinci was enchanted by the harmony of the various waterfalls when he passed through Rimini in 1502

This fountain located in Piazza Cavour, was rebuilt in 1543 and again in 1807 and provided drinking water for the city until 1912. The central drum that holds the pinecone is from the Roman era.

This is a nice little fountain with water still flowing from the taps at the older Piazza. Good for a photo stop while visiting the surrounding buildings on the square.

It deserves the souvenir photo for the beauty of the fountain and for the film by Maestro Fellini. Very useful on very hot days to fill the bottle with fresh water.

White marble fountain near the old fish market and completely off-center from the current square. No water currently. With three glasses and topped in the center with a large pineapple

Fontana Della Pigna – Pine Fountain – the fountain was built in Roman times and used the water from a well about 900 m away, whose pipe was initially made of stone but later replaced by a cast iron one. We also filled up drinking water here.
