Rimini is more associated with beaches and the sea. However, just a few minutes' walk from the coast and you discover a completely different Rimini - a city with a rich history and beautiful buildings. Piazza Cavour is a typical Italian square. It is quite large and surrounded by buildings in various architectural styles. You can find here a fountain, many cafes and shops.

One of the squares of old Rimini. Surrounded by several Palaces (Arengo, Podestà, Garampi...), the statue of Pope Paul V, the fountain, the Vecchia Pescheria and the Amintore Galli theater. Cafes etc. Very nice.

Really nice Piazza, that is full of history and atmosphere.
Square is surrounded by beautifully detailed architectural building with several restaurants and cafes to enjoy.
Also several monuments to see with main one being of Pope Paul V.
You should definitely make your way through this piazza, love these types of squares through Italy and Europe.

Very nice and interesting place. Arriving at this beautiful square, they immediately catch the eye of the beautiful palace. The atmosphere is nice and relaxing. The history of this square as well as Tre Martiri Square is interesting. Piazza Cavour is the political and economic center of the city since the beginning of the thirteenth century, when it gained importance with the construction of the palace dell'Arengo. The square is beautiful because it is eventful. It is possible to admire the beautiful Palazzo dell'Arengo (1204), where in medieval times justice court was administered and the assembly of the Municipality met. In the square we can enjoy two more beautiful palaces Palazzo del Podestà and Palazzo Garampi. At the center of the square, on the other hand, stands the imposing bronze statues of Pope Paul V, by Nicolò Cordier and Sebastiano Sebastiani, a monument erected by the citizens in gratitude to the Pope in 1614. The square also houses the famous Teatro Amintore Galli in neoclassical style, inaugurated in 1857 by Giuseppe Verdi, as well as the historic Library and the interesting Fish Market building. In the middle of the square there is the beautiful Fontana della Pigna. We enjoyed every look, every step, beautiful square.

Piazza Cavour is one of the central squares of Rimini. In the very centre of the square is a statue of the seated Pope Paul V. The western end of the square is dominated by the magnificent Teatro Amintore Galli while the north and south sides are flanked by cafes, restaurants, bars, the Fellini Museum and the landmark city hall of Rimini.

Rimini may be small but it is a great city to visit. The Piazza Cavour is a part of its historic centre.
We parked our car on Piazza Malatesta, next to the Castel Sismondo, and paid a parking fee of 4 Euro for a 24 hour stay. A two minute walk and you are in the Piazza Cavour, the city’s main square. Its focal point is the Roman fountain that was admired by Leonardo da Vinci in 1502. The fountain is not only beautiful – you can stop and drink the water.
There are lovely relaxing cafes around. Our favourite was Café Cavour. Here you can have tasty coffee, cappuccino or cold drink served with delicious olives and crisps by cheerful waitress. Then you can enjoy the beautiful facades of the crenelated Palazzo del Podesta and the 17th century town hall.
This is a great place for one of the best forms of free entertainment anywhere in the world: people watching. It is a fascinating experience especially when they speak a language which you don’t. Having Italians around is fun. They have an attractive emotional and expressive personality. The way they talk, gesticulate and dress themselves, the way they greet each other, with warmth and pleasure… I could watch for hours.
On our second visit to the café we had an excellent lunch. It wasn’t hard to work out why the cafés in the Piazza Cavour are full almost all the time.

Palazzo dell’Arengo is the main square in Rimini. There are three palaces on one side of the square. The earliest building dates back to the early 1200s. The more modern Palazzo Garampi is office to the city’s mayor. The Pigna Fountain is in the middle of the square, and it dates back to the mid-1500s. ,

Definitely worth the visit if you are in the area and a great change from the beach. Very classic Italian and some history here, so worth the walk out to explore a bit.

Amazingly large square which has seen a lot of history.
Towards the end of the 16th century, the municipal square (now Piazza Cavour), which had been closed off on a site where the Poletti Theatre was subsequently built, was redesigned. The statue of Pope Paul V has stood in the centre of the square next to the fountain since 1614.
In the 16th century, the 'grand square' (now the Piazza Tre Martiri in honor of three civilians hanged by the retreating Nazis at the end of World War II), which was where markets and tournaments were held, underwent various changes. A small temple dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua and a clock tower were built there, giving the square its present shape and size.

Good place to buy a lot of useful things - this is a cheapest market in Rimini. AFAIK it is open not every day though. Most of things there costs only 1 euro, clothes, souvenirs and more
