This church was an interesting find. Not near many of the other attractions in Ravenna. A number of interesting mosaics. Because of its location, you won't have to contend with the hoards of people that you will find at some Basilicas in Ravenna.

With such a big array of churches it is difficult to choose the top 5, but This one certainly would be one of them. I love the spire the portico and the interior

Although nothing outstanding this lovely church is a great occasion to pause and admire centuries old artwork.

A total contrast to the other sites in ravenna, there are barely any mosics here at all. Some fragments round the walls but otherewise it is all white paint/plaster and polished wood and tiles. A good place to go for some quiet contemplation, it was...More

This church is close to the train station. In fact, its one of the 1st building 1 will notice after crossing the road from the station. Its a gem which is pretty well preserved. Worth a visit.

Built by Galla Palcidia, so if you see her mausoleum (which is a MUST SEE in Ravenna), this church is interesting and an excellent example of architecture for this period. A good quiet place for meditation and resting your feet, which is indeed true of...More

This was a nice little church- under the altar there were some steps down and a little archway which you looked through to see a little sunken room. This was flooded at the bottom and had some fish swimming in it which was pretty cool!

Thought we had seen all there was in Ravenna when on our way to the station we found this great church. Must see and really well preserved pieces of the original mosaics for a churches that was completely destroyed.

On the advice of a couple I had met on the train from Bologna, on my way back to the station, I stopped at San Giovanni Evangelista, a handsome small church originally built in the Fifth Century by Galla Placida, then renovated in the 14th....More

It said 425, if I remember correctly, whereas the others are built in 430. We literally stumbled on it, on our way from the Railway station to the major landmarks. This one may not be so impressive as other major sites, but it's worth paying...More
