Fortress or Garden?
Oct 2019
Is this a fortress or a garden? the answer is "both". another amazing green spot in Parma. The medieval walls are perfect for a walk.

Great for a run
May 2019 • Couples
This is a large park with good designated running areas, children's playground, sports field, etc. Great for a morning or afternoon run.

The park is an old “save place” where people used to go during the war. Now it’s full of runners and other trainers. There is also a good big playgrounds for children and a good field for playing soccer etc.

The park is large and it has a lot of stuffs to do for every people from any age group. It also has at least one tiny shop where you can get probably ice cream etc.

The park has also those tiny “fountains” where you can drink clear water during the hot days.

And yeah don’t worry there is also benches for the ones who aren’t into exercising at that moment!

Nice place for running and other exercise.

The fortress that was the cittadella is no longer there except for the gateway and star shape of the walls and bastions. Within the large enclosure there is a park of trees and grass. The joy of this park is that you can exercise on the wide space that tops the walls. Here you can run circuits, practice your cross-country skiing, and do the other sports and exercises that you can do on a track. (But note: This is not a track; it is the circuit of the walls.) You can also stroll. There is a children's amusement park with trampolines, etc. There is also a modest outdoor café. If you're a tourist, it's an ok place to visit. But, unless you want to exercise or are interested in old fortifications, I wouldn't go out of my way. If you walk there from the center of town - and this is very doable - you go through nice residential areas. You can also look at nice residential areas from the top of the walls.

Not particularly scenic, but worthwhile

This would be a great spot to eat a lunch that you might have packed. If you've got kids or are one at heart, you'll enjoy the play areas. After strolling through an impressive entrance ( and a beautiful broad blvd to get to the park), it is relaxing but not overly impressive.

Nice park, good festival

I went to Parma to visit for an afternoon. The Cittadella is a somewhat long walk up the hill but managable. It is a rather nice park setup; while I was there it was a day and night time festival. I was impressed with the size of the rides they could fit in there.

What a nice place to visit and enjoy this restful outing area. People are really enjoying this place and taking care of their conditions. I was really surprised to see how keen Italians are to excercise themselves!
Cyclists with and without dogs, joggers, walkers and basketball players.... and small Tivoli for small children. All this in a nice neighbourhood with well-taken care of residential houses. Nice experience and surprise indeed. :-)

Nothing Special

Nice and clean ( as most of Parma is ),you can hardly see the walls of the old fort and unlike the Ducale there is no refreshment place.
