If you need a break from the churches, the historic sites and the traditional venues, go to this totally charming and delightful museum of hand made puppets, well worn, well loved, every imaginable classic character from Italian folk tales. A true gem.

We enjoyed our little side trip to see the puppets. Unfortunately there was not tour in English but some written commentaries.

I like marionettes so I enjoyed the visit. but I can understand my wife being not that enthusiastic walking around this kind of pieces of art.

We loved the displayed puppets. There was a small fee for the audio guide but the first few audio guides did not work. Waiting until they found one that did work was worth the wait. It would have been better if there were more videos...More

You can Gert in with a free ticket and that is the only way to justify the visit. The puppets are interesting but you would need to see a show to appreciate them better.

You're almost lured into the museum/theater by the music being piped out onto the street. Go through a courtyard to the entrance and you'll find a multitude of puppets inside. You'll also see old timey posters and ads for the puppet shows. Entry is free...More

To be honest, we passed by this museum on our travels around town, it was not a destination. But it should be! (and it is free) The puppets are wonderful to look at. And they have little TVs where you can watch old performances, even...More

This museum is next to the camera di San Paolo. Go. It's free, has great puppets from 1850s to now and...has a little screen showing puppet shows including some from the old Edward Sullivan show. You won't see that everywhere!
