Monumental cemetery on the outskirts of Modena, consisting of a historic part of the mid-800s and a modern part designed by architects Aldo Rossi and Gianni Braghieri in Rationalist style.
The modern part is characterized by a red cube, inside which we find the ossuary, which stands in the center of the complex.
The overall structure seems to want to recall a sort of city. Although the effect is not positive for everyone (the structure reminds many of a concentration camp). Too bad about the dilapidated state.

I am glad I read the reviews and decided to go. Luckily our Airbnb was 5min drive away. It is like nothing I’ve seen before. Absolutely beautiful. A perfect place for quiet contemplation, pondering one’s life while honouring the deceased and admiring the architectural solution. Unfortunately I only had time for the older part and did not have a map to realise that the new part was right next to it (we had to drive and repark to access it). Highly recommend.
