There is plenty to do in downtown Modena. For me, I would definitely tour this beautiful building if it is raining; otherwise it depends upon your time or specific interests. Skip it if you are limited on time.
I don't know whether we should be ashamed, but we actually did not choose to enter this place. However, we did find a nice spot at a bar opposite this building and had an apertivo while enjoying the view of it.
It stands on the east side of Piazza Grande, to the side of the Duomo and Ghirlandina, with a beautiful Renaissance façade, porches and a harmonious clock tower, spelling out Modena's wealth and prominent place in the region.
