I can't imagine a better acetaia to visit if you really want to learn the history and passion of this treasured tradition. Marcello clearly approaches his family's business with a firm desire to educate visitors and instill in them a love of balsamic vinegar as it has been for hundreds of years. Frankly, I can't believe he doesn't charge for his tours, because it would have been worth it. In fact, the next day we visited a caseificio for the production of parmigiano and I did pay there. The tour of the acetaia was far more enjoyable and educational. The Acetaia di Giorgio is located in a lovely house constructed in 1870. The same family has occupied the house for 150 years, and the balsamic ages in the attic, as is the traditional method. Take this tour if you possibly can. I've been to Italy many times, and this tour is a unique experience.

Giovannia did the tour for us, even though she worried about her English, she gave an amazing tour that involved her personal family history and the intricacies of the Balsamic process. One of the other hightlights was interacting with the family dog Brando in the garden. This tour was the highlight of my trip, its unbelievable that its free.

True authentic balsamic! What a lovely family, so kind and generous! We were a walk in on the day and they were so accommodating, making time to give us a tour and sample their incredible balsamic vinegar! If you’re stopping by Modena. This is a must do!

Such a lovely experience! Felt like we were guests on a family home! We learned all about balsamic vinegar production and tasted amazing vinegars! Highly recommend! It’s located in a commercial area but once inside it’s very inviting!

Do yourself a favour and go to see this wonderful family run balsamic producer. Run from their home since the 1870s (ish!) this charming wee place was such a highlight of modena for me. Boutique production of DOP balsamic, charming host in authentic surrounds. Plus, the balsamic.....just fabulous!

Our whole family (13 people ages 11-83) thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful presentation by Marcello on the history and process of making balsamic vinegar. We all had an opportunity to taste 5 or more different varieties of balsamic vinegar and decide our favorite one. The presentation is free, 45-60 min, and there was no pressure to purchase but some of us could not resist. All in all a very fun outing (took train from Bologna) . Highly recommend to anyone in the area who has any interest in this product that Modena is famous for.

I signed up for this tour on a whim, and I am so glad that I did. My family absolutely loved visiting and learning about/tasting the balsamic vinegar. They were extremely accommodating to my (at times very overactive) two-year old daughter while also not disturbing the experience for others (the house dog, Brando, played a big part). Somehow they have managed to combine the detail, presentation and expertise of a large distributor and the homey, intimate feel of visiting a family member. My family is still talking about the experience, and I am searching for new and exotic foods to use our new vinegar on.

We learned so much that we never knew about balsamic vinegar. This was one of our favorite things we did in the entire region. The tour is free and you get to see the attic of a small family owned balsamic vinegar place. This was such a special find. There is no pressure to by anything, but we loved it so much that we just had to buy a bottle to take home. It’s a wonderful excursion.

Outstanding tour and tasting experience in this small, family run balsamic vinegar producer.
The attic of the house harbors dozens of small barrels for the Solera style production. The tasting experience is instructive and delicious. You won’t be able to resist buying a bottle.

Spectacular and tasty from start to finish. Thank you to the family for accommodating tours (for free). To smell and see and taste the balsamic production was pure heaven. And so informative as well. I wish I had bought a bottle of oak aged to take home. If it’s good enough for the White House..

2nd time visiting. Marcello does a fantastic job explaining the history of balsamic vinegar and offers tastings of all of their products. Very informative no pressure to buy. Had a fantastic time. They also offer to ship what you buy if you do not have room in your luggage. Highly recommend.

Thanks so much to tour hostess. We arrived 1 hour late for our tour, due to my mix up in times. Giovanna was so gracious and held an extra tour just for us. the tour was very informative and gives a backgroud to the time intensive process of creating such a fine product. The tasting was incredible. almost impossible not to buy some vinegar before leaving. Do yourself a favour don't buy some inferior I.G.P. product for cheap in the market. Visit this place and get some of the D.O.P. you will thank yourself.

This is a must ! Marcello was an outstanding host and very passionate about his product. This boutique shop has the best I’ve ever tasted. I won’t go back to any other. The tour was very informative and tasty too. Our group was small and intimate.

Can’t wait to go back.

Quite a few years ago, I visited this wonderful place and purchased a couple of bottles of their balsamic. Used sparingly they lasted a while but eventually ran out. A trip to Italy was planned for this year with a side trip to Modena and quick visit to Acetaia di Giorgio for old times sake. Of course this was not possible so I thought I’ll have some sent. What wonderful service my two bottles arrived today after only seven days. I have a little reminder of Italy to keep me going until we can once again visit. I have said that I visited May 2020 and was solo, both are required fields to complete but are obviously incorrect.
