If you love Italian cheese, salami and other cured meat, this is your place in Bologna. You can either buy what I mentioned above plus various kinds of olives and different pickles or have a lunch or dinner or just a tasting on the spot - they have seating both indoors and outdoors, and also bake their own bread there. Prices are reasonable for the quality and the location near Piazza Maggiore. Very difficult to choose from the huge variety of products.

We stopped by for some wonderful meat and cheese, washed down with some lovely wine and beer. We waited for a table outside which was well worth it. I picked our own selection of meats and we tried their different aged Parmesan. It situated on a bustling little street filled with similar cafe bars. Great people watching whilst sat eating and drinking. Perfecto 👌🏼

After a degustation of Parmigiano Reggiano at Simoni during the morning city walk, we decided to come back for lunch. What a treat we had!!!
Davide Simoni personally took us on a kitchen tour and showed how they bake their delicious bread right there on premises. We spent about 2 hours enjoying the salumi, mortadella, prosciutto and 36 months parmigianno with 12 years old balsamic vinegar, as well as different olives, souses and pickles. All made within Simoni family company.
Thank you, Davide, for not forgettable experience!

A vast array of meats and cheese, order the sharing platter between two of you and the waiter will explain exactly what he has bought you and what to expect taste-wise....if you visit a second time tell them and they will prepare a different platter. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly, efficient and very smartly presented. It always seems to be busy here but don't worry service is fast.

A good salumeria, prices slightly better than the world renowned benchmark Tamburini. I would recommend it particularly if all you need is sliced cured meats.

Bologna is one of the most walkable italian cities, with its delightful Renaissance porticoes. Amongst the numerous shops dating back to the early 1900's - jewellery, fabrics, books and deli's - Salumeria Simoni stands out being located within the four sided business area. The first thing you notice is the shop window, full of prosciutto, mortadella and sausages hanging down.
If you are on a time budget or you want to avoid expensive restaurants, you can purchase takeaway foods and some cured meats -- just buy a focaccia or panino and bingo, you have lunch. On the day we visited there was Vitello Tonnato. We bought a pork sausage in the shape of a horse-shoe and it lasted more than a week, carrying it in and out of various fridges at places we stayed.

We had great fun eating here. We were lucky to find a table outside. It’s small and very busy place. We have ordered the plate ham and cheese plate which was huge for 3 of us and a bottle of sparkling wine. We have enjoyed all of it. Service was friendly and efficient.

We popped in here after a few glasses of wine for some nibbles on a sunny afternoon. The service was great, but the food only okay. We ordered the meat and cheese platter, which sadly lacked the latter. The variety of ham was good though, which was washed down with a glass of lambrusco. They also had a shop which let you buy a delightful assortment of deli delights and cheese. Located on a hustle and bustle street, this is worth a visit.
