Review of: Parma food tour
We met the owner, Andrea at the designated meeting place and off we went with him and his videographer. He asked if they could film a promotional spot for their website, which added to the fun. First stop was a pasticceria where we met the owners and four generations making sweet delights and we enjoyed their desserts with a cappucinno. Next up was a pasta shop where we helped make anolini and brodo and enjoyed sampling. We moved on to a cheese shop and tasted different agings of parmigiano cheese. Last stop was at a salumeria where the owner, Rita treated us just like family as we sampled all the local delicacies such as Culatello (a delicate ham) culata, salume and cheese along with organic wines and Lambrusco. Once Rita discovered that my family was from Italy, she pulled out all the stops and kept bringing out more delicious items to sample. We ended up with a to go tray! Definitely a highlight of the day. Taste of Bologna is awesome and I would recommend this company and tour to anyone who wants a personal and special behind the scenes tour! Grazie Mille

Review of: Parma food tour
On the day of our Parma walking tour, there were issues with the trains from Bologna that put us in 1.5hrs behind schedule. Our guide--Andrea--was both understanding (train issues happen *all* the time) and flexible, even re-structuring and extending the tour timeline to ensure we hit all the stops in Parma. From start to finish, our walk around Parma was hugely informative and all the stops for food were delicious. Andrea knows the shop owners (and chefs!) personally, and you feel welcomed into their stores on each of your stops. Each shop wants to make sure you've had a delicious visit, so you may even leave with some extra treats in hand too. My personal favorite was the massive lunch of ham and local wines in Rita's shop. (Who knew there were so many kinds of ham?!) If you're visiting Bologna and on the hunt for things to do, highly recommend Bologna Food Tours. The Parma excursion was one of our favorites of our entire trip to Italy!

We are a family of 3 with an 8 year old and we booked both a Pizza & Gelato food tour as well as a Pasta Making class with Taste Bologna. Our food tour was done by Elena who was very informed about the city of Bologna and its history. Her English was excellent. She gave us a great tour of the city at a pace that our 8 year old could feel comfortable. We ate delicious pizza, gelato and even tried a tagliatelle dessert. She knew the shop owners and everyone was very friendly and welcoming! All the food was included. We then took a cooking class with Manuel who was so sweet with our daughter, making sure that she chopped safely and even helped her to cook on the stove. He was super patient and really doted on her which she (and we) loved. She was thrilled with her accomplishment and as soon as we came home we made tortelloni at home using the recipes that we learned. Booking was easy and the company owner provided lots of information that we needed for the events. Both tour operators were on time and well prepared. The events with Taste Bologna were a highlight of our trip and I highly recommend them! I would say that Taste Bologna appeals to all ages!

My family and I took the Classic Bologna tour with Sara, and it was easily the highlight of our time in Italy. She was so knowledgeable and showed gave us some historical context about the city, as well as (of course) all of the wonderful food we enjoyed through the tour. We all agreed that the ragu we enjoyed for lunch was the best we had our entire trip! We especially appreciated how accommodating Taste Bologna was to our group - we were 14 people total, and they were able to organize a tour just for our family, and also made sure we had gluten free options for our family member who has celiac. Sara even thoughtfully sent over her favorite gluten free pasta recipe for us after the tour! Don't hesitate to book this tour for your time in Bologna!! Grazie Mile Taste Bologna!!
