Don't miss catching a movie in the Piazza Maggiore in Bologna in the summer. Check the schedule, sit at one of the cafe's on the side of the Piazza (get their about 45 minutes before the show) order a bottle of wine (and grab some take out pizza if you haven't had dinner) and enjoy a movie outdoors on a balmy evening. If you're lucky the sky will be clear and the moon will rise just above the movie screen. It's a perfect evening. (Make sure the movie says VO next to it which means Original Version and it suggests that the movie is in English with Italian subtitles.)

Great for students, good films in original language. You know italians only watch in the own language so stick to Cineteca if you are a real cinema follower. Also they have annual film fest, val. And this summer they had cinema demonstrations in Piazza Maggiore 'il cinema Sotto dell stelle'

I had the pleasure of being granted access to the Cineteca which houses the largest collection of music-related memorabilia and materials in the world. Its typically open to the public but was closed when I was in Bologna so this was a special arrangement. The place is so worth to visit especially if you are a lover of cinema. Classic movies that have been restored by Ritrovata are available as well as publications dating back nearly a century to the start of cinema. Original posters, art sheets, storyboards, photo stills, hand-written notes are available to researchers. They even boast of a wide selection of movie related video games that can be played inside the Cineteca. This is perfect for cinema enthusiasts with its rich history and imagery all available at your finger tips.

Bring a change of clothes!
First days of September, 34 degrees outside in Bologna, FULL room, no free seats so around 170 people in a not so large environment and... AIR CONDITIONING OFF. After an hour the air was stale and heavy, in fact some even went out. 3 hours in these conditions. Furthermore, the two drink dispensers (still and sparkling water), one out of order and one not dispensing the product.
If that wasn't enough; the seats are all at the same level so if you are tall or restless do the pleasure of sitting behind, otherwise reading the subtitles being positioned under the screen and the screen being low, becomes a game of contortionism. I can't imagine who was sitting in front, he probably went home with a terrible stiff neck.
Absolutely an experience that I would not repeat and that I do not recommend to anyone.

Negative review only for the (expected) NON-EXISTENT breakfast. Film screening at the Lumiere cinema at 11am with breakfast...at 10.15am the trays were completely empty, only thermos with American coffee available, so if you read in the Lumiere program 'mornings with breakfast' I recommend you do it at home...

Consigli su parcheggi in zona? Possibilmente non a cifre astronomiche. L'idea è andare a vedere Oppenheimer, solo il film sono più di 3 ore e mi costrebbe più il parcheggio del cinema.
Grazie,
