We completely underestimated this walk! We turned up in flipflops and shorts! haha. Probably not the best idea, but we still did it. It's high... it really is and the steps never end! BUT.. well worth the climb. You will need a fairly good level of fitness but there are stopping places if you need to catch your breath. The views at the top are well worth it though. Would recommend :)

Quite a hike if you are not very fit , over 500 steps the attendant told us but the views over the city are worth it and it is good exercise.

I still don't know how I did it... From the outside, it's a beautiful building which the top was lost in the clouds on this rainy day. It's not the physical aspect that was difficult for me as you have lots (but lots) of stairs to climb, it was more the high, the sense of lack of security as the stairs can be pretty slippery and the stairs railing is not super high. People going up and down have to cross each other which causes some traffic jam in the stairs and gives you some time to think about how high you are getting. The view, even on a rainy day, is definitely worth the effort. But I would recommend some renovation of the stairs and especially their railings to provide more security to the visitors.

Visited here today. City covered in graffiti and very shabby. Nothing at all to see here and this "attraction" is worse than boring. Gutted we have two days here. Nothing to see, NO restaurants have English menu at all and clearly this place isn't welcoming tourists. People are very rude and we have seen the entire city in 2hrs. Don't visit here. Waste of money. Have extra days in Florence or Rome. This was a complete waste of time and money.

We tried twice to book a cocktail at the top of this jewel, but both times the owner literally told us it was not convenient for him to accept us, only for a cocktail.
By explaining us with a weird calculation, the way he makes money with his heritage, he only accepts people affording to buy the full package which includes one night in suite, a spectaculary dinner with music (3 zeros bill)
We all understand someone should work for money, however his lack of empathy with customers like us, willing to pay only if we feel well traded with warm attentions, surely has to change.
Italy is full of beautiful treasures, and it's a great pity some heirs don't respect them. The harsh of making money should not be the only driver of your strategy in a country like this.

So Im a bit of a tower junky. Duomos too. Have done them all over and I have to say this one is a bit of a bummer. The view, as you can imagine, is great. It is what drives me to climb because you can get such a great perspective of the city from a birds eye view. This one is no different. Getting there and battling the crowds is what sets this one back. If you have vertigo this might be the worst place in Italy to go. The stairs are against the inside wall of the structure, narrow wood risers that are irregular and there is a less than stout handrail holding you back from tumbling into the open center. Couple this with large crowds of less than polite tourists and kids and it is a bit hair raising. Pretty astounding someone doesn't go over on a regular basis. Then once at the top the walkway is so narrow and the view points so pinched that the crowd effect just makes it worse. Then you have to go down the same way you went up. Yikes.

The place is wonderful, not for all because you have 12 flors of difficult, small stairs to do (and coming down is even worse), but you know it before and the arrival is wonderful.

The staff was nice but a part from that the cocktail was really deceiving: just water and wine (no cocktails or even just fruit juices for those not drinking wine, it's not my case but usually you find more variety); and the food was even worse: just a few things, I mean they served many times food but always the same cheap things and not suitable at all for a very hot and humid evening: salami, cheese, piadina, crescente, olives, cherry tomatoes, cold past and that's all.

We hoped to have sooner or later something different, maybe fresh and sweet like a mousse or even just some fresh fruits like strawberries, cherries or melon but nothing!

Considering the 25,00€ of fees to enter it's really overpriced.

The Torre Prendiparte is an unusual and amazing place to stay and Matteo is a consummate host and tour guide.
Our stay began with him telling us about the tower's history at its base. Then, slowly, he led us up through the various levels, stopping to share more stories and anecdotes with us.
The view from the top is spectacular - you see the whole city and its surrounding hills - and Matteo timed our arrival perfectly with dusk for photos and an aperitivo.
The wherewithal for a sumptuous Italian sweet breakfast was laid out elegantly in the kitchen for us the next morning and everything was thought of to meet our needs.
The living quarters are well furnished and comfortable.
With Bologna's rich history of towers, our stay in the Torre Prendiparte was the perfect way to end our Bologna sojourn.
Grazie Matteo di averci ospitato!
For those who do not wish to stay the night in the tower Matteo also offers a host of other interesting and entertaining options for visitors: from guided tours, to dinners, to concerts, to art installations.

It absoultely takes your breath away! After a seemingly endless climb, you will get the best view on the city. We visited this site on a tour, and I must say it was one of the highlights for us!

This is one of the few towers that remains in Bologna. Right now you can only access la Torre degli Assinelli.
