I would have given 5 stars but also more for the beauty of the Tower and the view, but unfortunately the organization and the guy who led us did not deserve the 5 stars. We were a group of 25-30 people and only a small part were foreigners. Start your visit with explanations first in Italian and then in English. There are three stops, before entering we make a very interesting historical roundup then we enter (almost 400 steps) on the 4th floor second stop with bilingual explanation... on the top floor the most interesting where there is a view of all of Bologna with its churches and statues, the explanation was made only in English because unfortunately time was short and the Guide did not have the opportunity to repeat it in Italian. To our requests for explanations and curiosity he cut short and kept asking to come down because we were late. There was already the other group coming up. It was only 40 minutes after our entrance and I assure you that 30 minutes is not enough to climb. We pointed out that we had paid the same ticket as the foreigners and was not correct a different treatment but in Response both the Guide and the Owner made fun of us. We were with two paying 12- and 13-year-old girls, who obviously don't understand English perfectly and if I had known there would be no explanation in Italian I would have been more careful instead of taking pictures and walking away. I could have explained to my daughter the beauties of Bologna!

This is a lovely looking old traditional tower built from thousands of small bricks. It's set in a very small square and is only open at certain times so check before visiting. It has two windows to it's facade, one with a juliet style balcony along with a wooden door. The tower boasts 360 degree views of the city from it's peak

Best view of the town as the Asinelli tower is closed at the moment.
12 storey high . The first few floors are furnished . Wooden staircase to the top. It is a fairly easy climb. Plenty of time at the top to take photos and look around on the way down .
Interesting exhibits and the guide gives a quick chat half way up.
Opens Sundays ( booking necessary) and Saturdays in May if I understood correctly .

A nice tower and better in my opinion than the Asinelli tower even if it’s not quite as high. You see some rooms as they were in the past which makes the ascent more interesting, and the views on the top terrace are spectacular. Definitely better value than the Torre Degli Asinelli.

Torre Prendiparte is one of several towers in Bologna. In fact it is the second tallest. It was built in the 12th century by the Prendiparte family and served as a defensive tower to protect the city from enemy attack. In later years it became a prison holding those who had committed crimes against the church... At other times it also served as a home. Today it is partly an apartment or Hotel building. Tourists can climb to the top (if they are able to...) to take in some great views of the city.

We completely underestimated this walk! We turned up in flipflops and shorts! haha. Probably not the best idea, but we still did it. It's high... it really is and the steps never end! BUT.. well worth the climb. You will need a fairly good level of fitness but there are stopping places if you need to catch your breath. The views at the top are well worth it though. Would recommend :)

Visited here today. City covered in graffiti and very shabby. Nothing at all to see here and this "attraction" is worse than boring. Gutted we have two days here. Nothing to see, NO restaurants have English menu at all and clearly this place isn't welcoming tourists. People are very rude and we have seen the entire city in 2hrs. Don't visit here. Waste of money. Have extra days in Florence or Rome. This was a complete waste of time and money.

We tried twice to book a cocktail at the top of this jewel, but both times the owner literally told us it was not convenient for him to accept us, only for a cocktail.
By explaining us with a weird calculation, the way he makes money with his heritage, he only accepts people affording to buy the full package which includes one night in suite, a spectaculary dinner with music (3 zeros bill)
We all understand someone should work for money, however his lack of empathy with customers like us, willing to pay only if we feel well traded with warm attentions, surely has to change.
Italy is full of beautiful treasures, and it's a great pity some heirs don't respect them. The harsh of making money should not be the only driver of your strategy in a country like this.

So Im a bit of a tower junky. Duomos too. Have done them all over and I have to say this one is a bit of a bummer. The view, as you can imagine, is great. It is what drives me to climb because you can get such a great perspective of the city from a birds eye view. This one is no different. Getting there and battling the crowds is what sets this one back. If you have vertigo this might be the worst place in Italy to go. The stairs are against the inside wall of the structure, narrow wood risers that are irregular and there is a less than stout handrail holding you back from tumbling into the open center. Couple this with large crowds of less than polite tourists and kids and it is a bit hair raising. Pretty astounding someone doesn't go over on a regular basis. Then once at the top the walkway is so narrow and the view points so pinched that the crowd effect just makes it worse. Then you have to go down the same way you went up. Yikes.

Wonderful view when you are at the top.
There are many wooden stairs to climb and I saw some chaps in difficulty.
Definitely worth a visit.

È possibile a ricevere informazione?
Mille grazie.

How much did it cost per night to stay there, and also how did you get your luggage up there if it was such a steep climb? Thanks!
Written October 23, 2016
500€ or more...you can put your luggage at the first floor in the bedroom :)
