If you want to learn traditional Bologna cooking this is the place to come - an absolutely fantastic experience. Barbara was an amazing host. We made 3 classic pasta dishes: tortelloni, taglietelli and potato gnocchi together with the sauces. The best part was making the pasta from scratch and rolling it out. After making all your dishes, you get to... More

We went to this class during our short stay in bologna as a family (mother, father and 3 daughters – 18, 14 and 4 years old). We received a warm welcome from the wonderful Varelia and Barbara and started cooking right away. The atmosphere was very nice and relaxed. We cooked for about 3 hours Gnocchi, Tortalloni with cheese filling... More

We went for an Italian cuisine cooking, not really knowing what to expect. We arrived at a secluded area in the middle of Bologna and met an amazing woman named Valeri. There are not enough words in the English dictionary to describe how amazing and interesting woman Valeri is. Not only that she is a professional chef and teacher ,... More

We had a fantastic afternoon learning to make pasta from scratch. We left feeling like we could actually make fresh pasta at home - without a machine to roll out and cut the dough. They also provided it us recipes so that we can make the wonderful sauces to go along with the fresh pasta. I am now officially spoiled... More

Our group of 8 had a lovely tour of the oldest market area of Bologna followed by a class teaching us to make pasta by hand as well as the accompanying sauces. It was a lovely day and the food was great! I would highly recommend this school.

Great night learning how to make gnocci, tortelloni and a traditional bolognese ragu. Valeria was professional, well prepared and made the evening fun. We can't wait to try the recipes at home! We definitely recommend Il Salotto di Penelope.

Everything was great! From Barbara, walking us through the streets of Bologna's market selecting fresh ingredients for our recipes, up to the cooking and tasting of our "masterpieces tortellini" with Valeria. There is a perfect alchemy between Barbara, explaining you how to make the "pasta sfoglia", and Valeria showing you how to make the "stuffing" and how to cook the... More

I would highly recommend this course even to someone who does not cook. Penelope and Valeria make it look so easy you can't wait to get home and try it all out! Take the option of meeting early and touring the small steets of Bologna in search of ingredients as Barbara shares lots of interesting snippets about Bologna's past.

Came to visit Bologna with my girlfriend in late February 2016. We both had a really fun time with Barbara learning to make pasta by hand (no food processors or pasta machines here!!). We never knew how little we really knew about pasta. She was also very good in suggesting places to eat and things to see around Bologna and... More
