Since 1999 offering Market-to-Table day class, half day classes, 3 night courses. As my classes are for very small numbers they fill up quickly and the first months to fill are April/May and September/October so plan ahead! I offer home cooking in a well air-conditioned home kitchen making updated, well plated, traditional Italian meals and my apartment is right in the heart of the historic city. Beginners, experienced cooks, professional chefs, families with children all welcome! I do my utmost to give you a memorable day and a great culinary experience and teach all the classes personally. And if you or your travelling partner/s don't fancy cooking, I offer a morning market food tour ending in a light lunch to introduce you to Bologna, its history and its food. And an unusual evening tour too, just email to ask!

I just spent 10 days in Italy, and my experience with Cook Italy in Bologna was the highlight of the trip! Carmelita met us in the village shopping district and we picked out all the ingredients for our cooking class. It was great fun meeting the shopkeepers and learning how to pick the best vegetables, cheeses, meats, even balsamic vinegar!... More

This was an incredible experience. Italy has many things to offer but the delicious cuisine is one of the highlights. If you like cooking at all, you'll love this class. Carmelita does a wonderful job guiding you through the traditional ways of cooking from Bologna. Be prepared to work! But also be prepared to be well rewarded with one of... More

This was by far the most fun thing we've done in Italy so far! Carmelita has so much knowledge about Bologna, the local meats, cheeses, pastas, and Italian food in general. In the morning she walked us through the best markets in Bologna and took time to explain the characteristics and history of good Italian food from the region. Her... More

Wow!!! Carmelita is a force of nature. She was truly amazing. We began our day with a walk through the markets of the Quadrilatero where she pointed out some of the best places to buy meats, cheese, vegetables, and just about everything else. We took her advice the rest of the week and never ate bad food! After several hours... More

Carmelita met us in the morning at the market. She advised us on places to buy food from the local shops as well as good cafes and restaurants. When we arrived at her home she made us feel very welcome. We cooked the two pasta dishes but she gave us plenty of tips on how we could adapt the recipes!

i can't think of a better way to steep yourself in the food culture of Bologna. Carmelita is a superb teacher and host and her own enthusiasm shines through. We started with a wonderfully informative shopping trip for ingredients in and around the Quadrilatero - where Carmelita's dialogue with various shopkeepers and stall-holders showed how well she's known. In addition,... More

Cook Italy with Carmelita was truly the highlight of our trip. She provides an intimate and knowledgeable cooking experience. We learned so much about Bologna's food history while walking through the market and even came back at the end of the day for dinner! The food we prepared was truly delicious and we cannot wait to make it at home!... More

Oh thank you, such lovely things you say! I hope you've made "our" meal successfully at home and that brought back good memories, just as this great review made me think back fondly to our fun day together. My very best, and a very big thank you! More

A fantastic tour of the local markets was followed by a very personal cooking experience. Carmelita walks you through every step of the process and helps you to create a great meal. One of the highlights of Bologna!

We spent a fantastic day with Carmelita. We were all looking forward to our day and we were not disappointed. We went with two of our daughters age 13 and 8 and they had a fabulous time rating it the best day they had in Italy. I love the reviews you quote from Sophie and Molly and am thrilled they rated it their best day in Italy. I hope you have had a chance to make pasta again at home? If not, just email me for the after sales service, and tell the girls I would love to cook with them again - they were great... More

Carmelita is professional, patient and personable. We are a family of 5 with children aged 13, 11 and 7. We were all involved from the start; from the time we met for our coffee discussing the menu through to the walking tour and shopping, to the preparation and cooking our dishes. We were all involved in something and Carmelita had... More
