Our guide, Scott, was enigmatic to say the least but he made the tour his own, spicing it up with stories from his own life and anecdotes about life in Bologna. He goes at a pace, and wonders why sometimes he loses people, but he does not bombard you with historical dates and facts. We retraced our steps after the tour to visit the very rough and ready bar he pointed out, and our two Prosecci standing outside smoking became a highlight of the trip.

We had a very good tour with Chiara and quite a large group but she handled it well. I think a reminder re social distancing would have been appropriate as sometimes too close grouping encouraged but accept we were outside and we chose to wear a mask. She was very clear and excellent mix of information and local knowledge. Great introduction to the city.

Went this morning for a two hour tour with Stella. She used a head mic and speaker which was needed as the traffic at some spots was noisy. I always take these yours when I travel to a new city to get a quick overview, but often the guides are not so knowledgeable. Stella was brilliant. Full of information and happy to answer questions. Take this tour...but do pay well at the end as this is how they earn money.

The review I'm leaving is for the one that meets at the bookstore and whose company is called Free Walking Tour Italia (this is important as there are different free walking tour groups/companies).

I am leaving 2 stars and not 1 because the guide at least seemed pleasant. The tour met in the rain which was fine so their score isn't affected by that because it wouldn't be right. The group was large and the guide spent a lot of time talking under a canopy at a cafe due to the rain however the cafe came blasting music. She didn't have the loudest voice so I heard very little of what she even said despite moving my place in the group. It also was difficult because she had a very heavy accent (not hating!). I found that she really just focused on the people in front of her and not behind her so hopefully people have better hearing than myself. I ended up leaving the group early largely because I just couldn't understand what she was saying due to background noise, her voice, and the overall size of the group. I regret giving up what little time I had in Bologna for a tour which I got nothing out of. The guide really needed a microphone and to find spots in which people could actually hear her. I realize it just wasn't me either. I saw people taking off throughout the tour when we went from spot to spot.

The walking tour with Chiara was amazing! I just had half a day in Bologna and I’m so glad I spent the majority of that time on the tour. I got to see so much of the beautiful city and Chiara was full of insightful information and it was never boring. I’m excited to return to bologna one day with family and friends and be able to share the city with them. Thank you Chiara - who also gave amazing lunch and gelato recommendations!

The tour was well organised and easy to find. There were about twenty people on the tour and took two hours walking around the main sights of Bologna. The guide (Francesca) explained the history, events and food of Bologna well, pointed out some buildings and museums that are worth visiting, and was easy to follow and understand, despite the noise and crowds in the city.

It was a very warm day and unusually many people on the tour >20 so we were worried the tour would not be as enjoyable.

Our tour guide Kiara made us forget about the heat and made the city come alive with stories and jokes. Very enjoyable.

We visited Bologna after our visit to Turin, Venice and Verona, so the city had big shoes to fill. Thanks to our guide Stefania we discovered that Bologna has a lot to offer and we genuinly enjoyed hearing all the information an anecdotes about both the past and the present. Stefania was by far one of the most enthusiastic guides we ever had - even though she was a bit nervous at times. She has an impressive knowledge of the city and a great drive to share all of that with the group. Would recommend!

We had an amazing guide. (so sorry I forgot her name – but she was on the small side as I was afraid that I might lose sight of her in the busy city) She knew what she was doing, every efficiently took us around, her explanations were very clear and English was easy to understand. She mixed facts and storytelling well.
In 2hrs, I felt like I knew Bolognia really well.

Such a wonderful tour! Stella was our guide. She was very professional, gave us a lot of accurate and interesting information, but also very close and funny. She made it a very pleasant walk. She was also very flexible and she adapted to our language needs. Very much recommended!
