Historical sight

Honestly we found this museum a bit underwhelming after coming from The Museum of Rossini, but I can’t give it less than four stars because it’s very special just for the fact that the Maestro was born here and you can see the interior of the place he lived in and, of course, the original piano that he used in his early years. Also, the view from the upper floor is lovely and there are some interesting portraits of the composer. Quite a quick visit but since it was included in our ticket for the museum of Rossini, it was worth popping in.

A must for Rossini fans.

For Rossini fans a must. You'll see where the maestro was born, what instruments he had at his disposal, where he ate, slept, etc.
Enlightening.

Interesting and worth visiting.

I thought this little museum, to Pesaro's most famous son (at least in musical terms), was well worth visiting. Small and spread out over three floors it mostly contains photographs, engravings and some lovely caricatures of Rossini and his contemporaries. They also have scanned copies of some of his music and a number of his letters, some translated into English (his letters don't necessarily shed much light on him - in them he mostly complains that his parents have not been writing to him!).

The guide book (€3) is well worth buying - in Italian and English it gives quite a lot of detail about his life as well as the exhibitions.

You can buy a joint ticket for Rossini's House, the City Museum and the Archaeological Museum.

The exterior is pretty beautiful and great for taking photographs, but it does seem very overhyped..

We loved this little museum. It is really worthwhile. The historical building itself is very beautiful. The gift shop has some fun and unique items for music lovers as well.

The home of the star local boy

A four story house in the old town worth a visit. Main content is photos, manuscripts (some photocopies) some furniture and some hi tech displays. Some exhibits related to the operas performed in the Festival.A little shop on the ground floor. 12 euros seemed a high charge but it gets you admission to the main museum nearby which I didn't visit. But if you're a Rossini fan well worth a visit.

Rossini in Pesaro
Sep 2017 • Friends
A very understated museum giving an idea of Rossini's life. However, information only in Italian. Considering Rossini gave this house to Pesaro they could have perhaps done more with it. I was underwhelmed.

We felt that being in Pesaro we should visit this late 18th century house/museum. It is quite a narrow building in a typically Italian street and has four floors, the shop and entrance area are both on the ground floor, as is an audio room where you can listen to Rossini's operas. The rest of the house is the museum, all upstairs - there is no lift, and is 5 Euros to enter. The staff member was very helpful in describing what was here.
The rooms on the first floor contain portraits, pictures, photographs and caricatures of Rossini from youth to old age. Letters and scores and his travel spinet are also on view. Room 1 is where he was born and contains some original features. His last days are also documented including a copy of his will in which he gives his general possessions to the town. Rooms on the second floor contain prints of performers and of operatic characters, these include his wives one of whom was a noted soprano.
I am sure that music buffs will find this a 'must-see' place but the average tourist might not be as enthusiastic. There are toilets.
