This is a huge square, we didn't get a chance to walk around the square because we were on a tour of the Basilica, but took plenty of pictures. You can see the window from which the Pope gives his messages from. This square is very crowded with lots of tourist moving all around.

This was an amazing square. We loved the Swiss Guards and loved seeing where the pope's window was. Worth experiencing

Many statues the plaza was huge and it really gave a stunning view of the Vatican. There were chairs placed for an event going on or something.

We visited the square every day of our 3 day visit to Rome as it was so beautiful it was usually very crowded especially in the mornings but looks lovely as the sun goes down and it lights up in the dark.

You don't need a ticket to stand in St Peters Square so just turn up and enjoy it. It is truly a sight to behold and you can easily see why when the Pope is there it fills up with 150,000 people. You will be approached for tours by numerous people, just be careful about taking them up on their... More

A vast open area. No we didn't get to see the Pope during our visit. Made famous by Dan Brown's Angels and Demons. This is a place really worth a visit whether on a pilgrimage or as a tourist. If you are a fan of Gregory Peck the movie ..The scarlet and the black.... shows this square in all its glory...but... A wonderful place to walk around and take pictures with your friends and families. There is no better place to have a cup of coffee and people watch.
