It is so big. You queue here for entrance to St Peter's Basilica. It is free to enter the Basilicia, the queue is for the metal detectors. Not sure if there were more touts than tourists! Don't buy from them just pay at the venues.

The sheer scale of St Peters square took my breath away, and it is magnificently overlooked by St Peters basilica. The sense of scale is amazing with views down to the river and castle sant Angelo. Definitely worth a visit me take the time to sit and drink it all in. Beautiful !

A beautiful piazza which is best enjoyed early in the morning on a sunny day- we arrived at 8.30 and it was relatively empty of people which meant you could really appreciate the scale and beauty of this place. Dominated by the splendid basilica, the approach flanked by the large hemispherical colonnades topped with statues, it is a sight to... More

I visited St Peters Square on a short trip to Rome with my partner - we went to The Vatican City on our last day and did a guided tour. St Peters Square is a large open piazza leading to the Vatican City - it is beautiful and you can wander around for free. Only downside really walking around here... More

Spent a lovely couple of hours with my wife in the square just people watching. No seats at all so sat on steps surrounding the basilisk in the square. Statues of Saints around the square are amazing. A must visit.

This is a remarkable site not to be missed when in Rome. Its vast elegance allows you to happily spend a few hours taking in the architectural details while imagining the spiritual aspects of it. It was a fairytale for our toddler during our Xmas holidays.

It an impressive square, the most impressive in Rome in my opinion. No words need to say here, go and enjoy it, you won't regret it.

The initial view when you enter the square is breathtaking, and the views are amazing. Be aware there are a lot of tour guides and people trying to sell things and you just have to tell them no. But it was great to see
