This late 19th century clock runs on water. Literally.
It can be found near the entrance to the Pincio gardens.
It's anything but impressive or interesting.

Between the observation deck of Pincho Hill, right behind the Moses fountain, behind the fence with water, on a small stone island you can see a very unusual clock tower. At first glance, it seems like an ordinary watch: a white dial with black hands, everything is like a grandfather clock with a strike. But it turns out that the most interesting and important from a technical point of view is hidden inside, in their glass cocoon. The clock mechanism is not powered by manual winding or electricity, but the engine is simple... water.☝️It is fed from top to bottom, into a special double vessel, which transfers energy to the pendulum, and the pendulum to the springs. In 2023 they will turn 150 years old, but it’s an anniversary!☝️

Walking on the Pincio is a work of art to be seen and observed carefully, it is worth stopping to study the mechanism of a machine that is in any case precious and worth preserving.

Keen to show this to the kids while in the park; however it's not working and apparently hasn't been for a while which is a pity.

Located in a small pond in the gardens of Villa Borghese. You have to follow the direction indicated on the signs to find it, since it is quite hidden among the trees. It was created in 1867 by the friar Juan Bautista Embriaco. It is a hydrochronometer that works with the flow of water. Another of the curiosities that we can see in Rome.
