The monument to Garibaldi is very beautiful and evocative.
The equestrian statue stands out on the imposing marble pedestal.
The Monument is full of other figures representing historical and geographical events.
But the most bewitching images are those of Garibaldi during the landing in Marsala.
To be seen!

This 1895 colossal equestrian monument is of Guiseppe Garibaldi, who fought for liberation and unification of Italy. Garibaldi stands proudly, forever keeping a watchful eye on the Eternal City below.

After Dinner, we were walking up the hill, when reached at the top, came across this beautiful statue of Garibaldi. Honestly, i didnt know anything about Giuseppe Garibaldi before, but now after reading the history, i am glad to have seen this monument dedicated to the person who unites and gave what we call "Italy" now a days.

Another good thing is the View of Rome city from top of the Hill. It's beautiful

An area of Rome I hadn’t been to before and a little out of the way but it’s a great viewing spot to go to. The monument is, as would be expected, very grand.

Easy to get to from centro storico. Cross the river and walk up the steep via s.pancrazio then right onto the avenue that leads to the monument. Stunning views across Rome spoilt only by tatty stalls and litter. Worth a visit. Before heading back down via pancrazio check out the aqua Paola fountain at the junction with via garibaldi.

As monumental statues go, it's fairly impressive, but like many of the minor sights of Rome, it's only worth a quick look if you're nearby.

Wanted to avoid throngs of tourists and enjoy a nice walk on a beautiful day so decided to walk up Gianicolo Hill. The views of Rome here are nice but honestly I thought the view from the small park across from Bambino Gesu hospital on the way up the hill was better. What was most striking about this visit is the dismal state of the park around the monument. There is a long wall memorializing the unification of Italy but the park is literally a dump -- empty bottles and trash strewn everywhere. A disgrace. Wanted to take a walk in the park just below the monument. Found it very hard to navigate with fences blocking your way down. Overall visit was a disappointment.

We spent a long day sightseeing along the west side of the Tiber River (Fiume Tevere), starting at the Vatican, down through the Janiculum hill area on our way to the Trastevere section.

We came this way mainly to get the view. Its a long walk, but two very nice local gentleman living in this area stopped and gave us a ride up the hill while telling us about the area (there are nice people everwhere).

The two pictures attached are from th etop looking east across Rome and toward the sunset.

Worth a look if you’re on top of Gianicolo Hill in Trastevere. The top of Gianicolo Hill is a fun place to hang out and soak in the views.

The Garibaldi Monument stands on Piazza Garibaldi at the top of Janiculum Hill. This bronze statue of Garibaldi is seen riding a horse on a large marble base. Views here are stunning.
