Unmissable. Strolling through the vast gardens and green space and then marveling at the sculptures, paintings and objects inside the Palace is wonderful. And knowing the Greek myths makes it even better to appreciate the sculptures. I loved the experience.

Not to be confused with Villa Borghese (or Galleria Borghese), Palazzo Borghese is for far from the Tiber. It is an enormous, oddly shaped building that tapers to a point in the section closest to the river. Entrance is at Largo della Fontanella di Borghese, 19. The building contains offices of the Spanish Embassy, so it is guarded. However, you can enter to see the nice (and free) Galleria del Cembalo, which has rotating exhibits of photography. The courtyard of the Palazzo Borghese is stunning, worth a visit just for seeing it, but make sure to check out the gallery at the back of the garden.

Because the works within the Villa are so spectacular, the building itself is sometimes under appreciated. After you visit the Galleria, be sure to spend some time with the architecture. And then, as you should, visit the grounds ... the park is one of the best green spaces in Rome. Outstanding building in a beautiful setting.

As far as I could tell, the Palazzo no longer allows visits unless you have connections or maybe arrange via a university, etc May be related to the location of the Spanish embassy in that building. Disappointing since I had read about the garden a while ago.

I could not get into the building but just walked by. There is a sign posted nearby with some history of it. This palace in Rome was the main seat of the Borghese family. The main façades have three stories with two mezzanines inserted between them and the two majestic portals are flanked by columns and a balcony. The interior garden courtyard is supposed to be great, but I could not get in to see it.
