Love all of Bernini's works. We think the story behind this elephant is good too. It is very unusual and exquisitely done. Not too far from the pantheon to was over to. We will visit it again.

Great sculpture near our hotel by the Pantheon. As with many, we ran into this Piazza by accident and loved it.

We discovered this elephant in a square not far from the Pantheon. What a delight to find out it was designed by Bernini. Rome is a city of wondrous discoveries!

While this elephant supporting an obelisk may not be the highlight of Rome it is interesting to see how Bernini executed the animal. Take a look, if you are nearby - close to the Pantheon.

This elephant, toppled by an obelisk, is a fine Bernini's marble work. It is just outside the Santa Maria Sopra Minerva church, behind the Pantheon. It was ordered by one of the popes, Alexander VII, who was very fond of Bernini.
