Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.

Very cosy bookshop in the heart of Trastavere! We spend ~45min without no rushing, just admiring beautiful books with good music in the background. Multiple books of all genres, also many gorgeous books about Rome and Italy to choose from (if you are searching for a good guide book or collecting books from your traveled places)

If you're going to be in Rome for any length of time, you'll want to check out this great book shop in Trastevere. Great selection of different kinds of books, and super friendly customer service in fluent English. One of my favorite things to do in Rome is sit at an outside table at a restaurant, drink wine, eat great food, and just soak up the sun while reading a good book. If you're like me, the Almost Corner Bookshop is the place to get that good book. - Jim Papandrea, author of ROME: A Pilgrim's Guide to the Eternal City

I have been a regular customer for 10 years, always spending around €100 per visit, 3 - 4 times a year. so I'm not their biggest customer but I have been loyal. during covid, the store ran a promotion on Facebook where for every €10 purchased as a gift voucher, an additional €5 would be added on to the total. I dutifully purchased a voucher and then a while later, when my flights kept getting cancelled, I checked if the vouchers had an expiry date. I was told they did not. for various reasons, this is the first time i have been able to fly out. I have tried twice in the last few days to spend the voucher but the shop employees had no knowledge of the vouchers. I was told to email which I did but did not receive a response. one employee also messaged the owner but again no response. I feel robbed. I couldn't even spend the base value of the voucher, minus the promotional balance that was applied so I'm out of pocket. and like a chump, I still spent €100 on books in there on Saturday! but I'm done. what a disappointing end to a beautiful association.

After I was back home, the owner emailed me and stated I could only spend the face value and not the promo amount, contradicting their public stance. I did everything I could to make this work but they do NOT value their customers. Their attitude now is "spend it if you want or not. Up to you". I was NOT allowed to spend it. I want a refund.

Friendly English bookshop with an impressive range and helpful manager (ask him to recommend restaurants to try and especially those to avoid)

In Trastevere you will find this gem of a bookshop. It is very well stocked and the service is excellent. Choice of books, both brand new, and second hand is admirable. Thank you, "Almost Corner Bookshop".

Had heard of this bookshop and so went looking on the Via del Moro. Trestavere is the place to stat in Rome and the fact that it has a very good english bookshop is all the better. The proprietor is taciturn but knowledgeable on matters cultural, although he is incorrect, there is a Caravaggio in Trastavere.

We popped into this English book shop and the owner recommended several books to me after I told him the type of books I like to read, the ones he recommended turned out to be just fantastic, so in 6 days I read 3 books in between visiting the attractions. The staff in there could not have been more helpful, kind and polite. So if you are looking for English books, this is the place to go, just in Trastevere, which is a lovely area and has loads to see.

I wouldn't normally go to an English bookshop whilst abroad but this visit made me think again.
The owner was gently easing though his Roman Sunday, chatting gently with customers and giving feedback on books we were browsing. I bought Mistress of the Vatican by Eleanor Herman and he told us about her connections locally, so we set off through Trastevere to locate the old brothel he mentioned. Great fun and great book!

You must visit this great little bookshop when you are in Rome. It only has books in English, including lots on the history of Rome. The manager is so friendly and she will advice you on anything you may want to know. Furthermore, it's situated in a marvellous part of town, in a street with many interesting small shops. It is really worth a visit!
