A morning walking the neighborhood of Trastevere with Sophie was the perfect way to get to know Rome in a new and very personal way. Sophie's tour goes beyond the obvious places to special spots where passionate, friendly people are making delicious food with care and excellence. Her obvious love of these people is clearly reciprocated. They lit up when she walked into a shop and you had the feeling you were getting extra-special tastes and insights. Sophie is so easy-going and engaged, the morning went by quickly. I recommend this tour to newcomers to Rome and also regular visitors. Her choices are unexpected, delicious and fun and the very personal experience makes the tour memorable.

I loved our pizza crawl with Sophie. First of all, there is a lot I would not have even thought to eat in Rome, if not for her. As others have mentioned in the reviews, the fried battered cod. That was a revelation. After eating it with Sophie, my friend and I kept ordering it as an appetizer, it is that good in Rome. She, also, took us to a place where they make sandwiches (I can’t remember what they are called) and we had two different kinds. The one with beef tongue was memorable, and again, something I would have never known about if not for Sophie. In between, of course, we kept eating pizzas. YUMMY!!!! But my favourite part of the tour, and a standout memory from my whole trip, is when Sophie took us to eat gelato at a café. While eating the gelato, she took us into the back room. In that room there were two ladies sitting at a table and at another table, a group of men playing cards. Watching everyone in that room was like being in every movie you have seen of Italy. It was such a special few minutes and you also, realize, in addition to the tour being amazing, that you are on the tour with a very special lady.

Great food AND walking tour with Sophie who took us to authentic bakeries and restaurants where we got to try old and new favorite Roman dishes! Walking through Trastevere on a pleasant November evening was just brilliant, invigorating and simply fun; especially with Sophie’s stories about the area and Italian cuisine etc...we ended the tour with great gelato and a lovely chat with some locals...highly recommended; thank you Sophie!

I was looking forwared to this tour with Sophie in Romes neighborhood Trastevere so much I didn't want it to end. She brought me to places in Rome I would have never found on my own; and I have been going to Rome every year sometimes twice a year since 2014. Hanging out with Sophie was like seeing an old friend. I follow her on Instagram and she is always so engaging and meeting her was even better. The bakery has to be my favotire part. Don't look at this as some standard tour but hanging out with a cool Italian/American girl whom is showing you her secret spots. See you soon Sophie! I will be back in March xoxo Emily

I recently had the pleasure of going on one of Sophie’s food tours and it was one of the highlights of our 3 week stay in Rome! Sophie, a warm, friendly young woman, has a wealth of information to share about the food, culture & people of Rome. Because I am celiac & cannot eat gluten Sophie created a custom itinerary of gluten -free stops. The tour took us through, at a leisurely pace, Campo di Fiori and the Jewish Ghetto, then over the bridge to Trastevere. Our first stop was for an excellent espresso, then on to sample a varied selection of delicious cured meats, & then to a cheese shop for more tasty bites. In Trastevere we visited a lovely little market where there was a different selection of wonderful cheeses to try. The tour was topped off with a cup of heavenly gelato. We also popped into an organic grocery store, a specialty food shop where Sophie recommended which gf pasta to try and even a bookshop. Along the way she showed me some of her favourite coffee, chocolate & gelato places, shared food shopping tips, made restaurant recommendations and even suggested some off-the-beaten track places to explore in the city. None of the places we went to were touristy & I would not have found them on my own. The tour lasted about 2 1/2 hours, wear comfortable shoes and come hungry! The food tastings were generous & I returned to our apartment both full & bearing leftovers to share with my husband. I learned so much & had such fun. This tour really whetted my appetite for the Roman way of food shopping and eating! Highly, highly recommended!
