About Rome With Sophie
I'm Sophie Minchilli, half Italian, half American and fully in love with Italy. I'd like to show you Italy (and Rome in particular) (and food most of all) through my food tours and cooking classes. I will be giving you a little glimpse into the streets, homes and life of the Italy I love.

We took an amazing food tour with Sophie, it was one of the highlights of our trip. We went to places we would never have found or been able to try on our own. Sophie also provided us with some restaurant suggestions which were excellent too. Sophie is very relaxed, friendly and knowledgeable.

We were in Rome for about 4 days. With a busy schedule of museums, etc. we knew we wouldn't have time for a full food tour. So, we figured that the food itinerary was the perfect way to go. She booked 4 dinner reservations for us, which were all amazing and different to allow for trying different foods and environments! With that she also provided us a written out itinerary with other restaurant, gelato, and coffee bar recommendations. It even provided us with tips on eating in Italy to help blend in with their culture better! I cannot recommend Sophie's resources enough!

I love to cook and one part of travel that I enjoy is learning about food traditions, and cuisine from other cultures. Our son went on a tour with Sophie and said it was a wonderful experience. When we were planning a trip to Rome we signed up for the evening tour, thinking that it would be great to ask questions and learn from a local. Before the tour I ordered Sophie's book and felt prepared for her philosophy of Dolce Far Nient (The sweetness of doing nothing). The whole feel of the experience was very relaxed and enjoyable. Sophie's insight and history in the area made the tour very personal. She told stories and we visited some places from her childhood. I felt comfortable asking a lot of questions! The variety and amount of food was just right. Delicious cheese and meats, pizza with lemon slices, wine, gelato....when we got home from our trip I couldn't wait to cook and try some of the things that I learned! Sophie was absolutely delightful.

Highly recommend working with Sophie for a personalized food itinerary. Our schedule didn’t permit going on a food tour (although we will make sure we book this next time), but we were able to enjoy lunch and dinner at restaurants Sophie recommended and made reservations for us to enjoy on our own. I still dream about the pasta she recommended ordering from the lunch spot!

We just returned from an amazing 5 nights in Rome with our 2 daughters (not teens, 21 and 24). We had taken a food tour with Sophie the last time we visited Rome which was great, so we were looking forward to doing another one. Unfortunately, Sophie was in Puglia on a week long tour, but she did set us up with an amazing itinerary and reservations. All of the restaurants were beyond delicious, and hand picked to work around my daughter's food allergies as well as the locations of our activities (when she tells you to stop by the the tiny neighborhood market for sandwiches on the way to the Colosseum you go!) She included other suggestions for coffee, bakeries and gelato around the city which were delicious as well. We look forward to doing one of the week long excursions someday! Btw - I should probably be writing this review from the seat of my Peloton! So much deliciousness!!
