This was once upon a Time a famous romantic bridge in Rome and whilst it still majestic it is sadly surrounded by grubby motorway and back alleys and the riverbanks are overgrown and strewn with litter. Still William Mallory spent time painting the view and it can be seen the V&A gallery in London.

This bridge was probably built around 100 BC, and later it was repeatedly fortified and restaured from 6th to 19th Century. It's the symbol of Montesacro neighborhood, and it's a really fascinating and poorly known treasure of Rome. If you are staying three days in Rome you can ignore it, but if you already know the main features of the Eternal City, it's worth spending 20 minutes to reach this fascinating place from the city center and walk where Charlemagne, Stendhal and Garibaldi have been.

Built by the Romans in the Republican era, it was one of the most important and strategic bridges in the city. Over the centuries it was also used as a fortress and customs house and was damaged and restored several times. To visit.

A place that transports you through time. Now, renovated, it is simply magnificent. The park that surrounds it makes it even more suggestive.
