The Basilica of Sant'Eustachio is a lesser-known but highly significant gem in the panorama of Rome's churches. Located in the heart of the city, near the Pantheon, this church deserves an in-depth visit for its history and beauty. Over the centuries, it has undergone various modifications and renovations. The current structure dates back to the 13th century and features Gothic and Romanesque architecture, with a sober and elegant facade. The interior of the church preserves works of art of considerable value, including frescoes and sculptures that reflect the artistic style of the time. Among the most notable works of art inside the basilica, the ceiling fresco depicting the "Glory of Sant'Eustachio" from the 18th century stands out. The basilica is dedicated to Sant'Eustachio, a holy martyr whose cult has ancient roots. The church preserves the relics of the saint and attracts the faithful for its atmosphere of spirituality and sacredness.

This is a Baroque church located at the small public square by the same name around halfway between Piazza Navona and Pantheon. It is open for visitation from 8am to 1pm and 4pm to 7pm (Mon to Fri) and 8am to 7pm (Sat & Sun).

Historically, there was likely an oratory at this location in the 4th-century. Later in the 8th-century, a church was built upon these grounds. It was restored in the Middle Ages near the end of the 12th-century, when the bell tower was added. You can see this today next to the Baroque facade, which was the work of Cesare Corvara in 1703. Note the portico entrance and if you stand back from the church, a stag head topped with a cross atop the facade.

The church interior is fairly typical of the Baroque period. The ornamental single nave features side chapels with nice artworks, the main altar includes the relics of Saint Eustace and a fine altar painting by Francesco Ferdinandi (1727). Overall, it is a nice representation of Roman Baroque and a good church to stop by for a quick visit when sightseeing in the area.

Interesting and very old Basilica di Sant'Eustachio is around the corner from the Pantheon. Its Romanesque campanile dates back to 1196 and creates quite a contrast with the 17th century Baroque facade. I was there on Christmas Eve, so the atmosphere was cheerful and festive. If you need a spot to take a rest and relax, this beautiful church is the right place.

This is a must for while exploring around the Pantheon. We came across it after getting a little lost looking for a certain Cafe. I am so glad we did it is absolutely stunning. The art inside is amazing. It was also very quite when it comes to tourists so it made it very easy to look around.

Again not far from The Pantheon, you will find this interesting church. The church dates back to the early Christian period. It is supposed to be founded by emperor Costantino on Sant’Eustachio’s house, where he was martyred and buried in 120. We understand that the church still feeds the poor to this day. The bell tower is one of the few parts of the Medieval church that remains. Make sure you look up to the top of church and see the deer head with a cross amidst its horns, recalling the deer that appeared to the Saint in a dream. In the inside, the paintings in the transept are by Giacomo Zoboli. The high altar, rich of marbles and bronzes, is by Nicola Salvi (1739), while the canopy that surmounts it is by Ferdinando Fuga.

This is a minor basilica, not far from the Pantheon and Sant'Ivo alla Sapienza, and it lends its name to the neighborhood. Founded possibly as early as the 8th century, today's church is from the Baroque period. The Saint had a vision of a deer with a cross between its antlers, and the deer head with the cross became his symbol. Looking at the top of the church, there is a deer head with a cross between its antlers (and such now appears on the seal of the rione as well), Look at the tops of the columns on the front of the church, and you'll also find a little deer head there as well. The inside has the pomp of the Baroque, including a large baldachin over the main altar. This church is worth a stop if you are in the area, such as if you are grabbing a coffee from the famous Sant'Eustachio il Caffe.

Its easy to get "churched out" in Rome but this one stands above many. Simply beautiful inside. Not crowded. Just walked in. Regret not knowing at the time much about its history. If anywhere near the Pantheon then stop in, even for just a short while. Its not a huge church so it doesnt take too much time to see

This is a must see it's beyond beautiful. You need to get someone to explain a few things when you in there as you won't notice that the one painting on the ceiling that looks like a dome is actually an illusion and not a dome at all just an incredible painting. There are a few things you won't notice if you don't get a brochure or have someone show you. Dont miss this out.
